Director, North America Merchandising - Eastbay
Description
As our Marketplace Merchandise Director, you will be a fundamental stakeholder in ensuring that seasonal stories & initiatives come to life for Eastbay.com. Your role will consist of building both short & long term strategic frameworks in concert with critical category merchandising & sales partners in North America. This individual will need to be able to pivot from strategy – to – execution, communicate to senior leaders & to peers, and be confident in their matrix management abilities. The goal of the work is to:
• Tell compelling assortments & stories at retail
• Continue to foster a deeper connection with the consumer through the lens of performance and lifestyle product
• Influence both geography & global partners to build consumer relevant product & assortments that drive profitable revenue growth for both the account & Nike North America.
• Partner with other banners to help land key product stories for Eastbay’s consumer
• Drive an overall “digital first” strategy for Foot Inc.
You will leverage consumer focused modular assortments in order to align with the global vision while driving a clear segmentation/differentiation strategy in cooperation with your Integrated Account Team and category counterparts. The role will require a strong retail math background, as financials will be a critical component in building profitable assortments, increasing SKU efficiency and driving top line revenue growth. In addition to the science, you will be responsible for having a finger on the pulse of the consumer in order to anticipate marketplace shifts and ensuring the ability to react quickly. As the Merchandising Director, you will be tasked with identifying key opportunities not only post booking deadlines but also after the assortments have landed at retail. This hindsight will be leveraged in order to influence future assortment direction. In addition, you will not only clearly communicate the Nike brand vision and assortment strategies to the retailer, but you will also work back with cross-functional partners upstream in order to define the consumer needs of the future downstream.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position include:
• Bachelor's Degree or two additional years of experience in lieu of a degree
• At least 5 years’ experience in merchandising, product creation, and or retail, in a vertical or wholesale environment
• Footwear, apparel and/or equipment merchandising experience
• Proficiency in retail and profit based metrics
• Assortment planning experience
• Experience in the Mall business and/or Sporting Goods business
• Candidate must be willing to travel 20% of the time
