External Job Description
The Sr. Technical Designer is responsible for monitoring the technical development process from design to production. They will analyze and review merchandise for fit, construction, and overall quality. They are also responsible for coaching and training direct reports in the management of their areas.
• Manages and monitors the production of technical specification packages to communicate requirements for fit and construction from concept through production
• Leads fit sessions, analyzes fit, and accurately communicates corrections of assigned product areas
• Partner with others on the development of standards and procedures to ensure uniformity, consistency, and common approach internally and across all vendor and factory bases
• Creates, updates, and utilizes blocks and patterns to ensure standards are being met
• Provides technical expertise and support to cross functional teams on fit development and preproduction activities
• Trains and mentors Assistant TD, Assoc TD, and TD as needed to build department cross functional strength and efficiency.
• Competitive shops the market to research size, fit, construction techniques, and labeling

Requirements
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience in related area
Experience:
• Highly experienced technical designer with at least 10 years of technical or manufacturing experience
Skills:
• Clear understanding of patternmaking/grading and how fabrics/trims affect the fit of the garment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
• Proficient in Web PDM or similar product management system
• Clear understanding of Adobe Illustrator drawing tool and Microsoft Office software
• Has an eye for detail
• Desire for continuous improvement
• Quick thinker; able to balance priorities
• Sense of urgency and drive
