DESCRIPTION
LS&Co. is seeking an accomplished communicator to join our Corporate Affairs team. We're looking for a passionate storyteller with deep experience in global supply chain and sustainability communications -- someone with extensive media relations skills and is willing to push him/herself and the team to try new things. This individual will be a key driver of the company’s global supply chain and sustainability storytelling, responsible for setting the strategic direction for internal and external communications, developing and executing integrated campaigns across owned and earned media and key stakeholder communities.
This individual will partner closely with the Global Corporate Affairs team (Internal Communications, Regional Communications and Public Affairs) to develop and execute strategic visibility programs to raise LS&Co.’s profile and enhance the company’s reputation around broader social and environmental sustainability efforts. The Director of Global Supply Chain communications will partner with the Chief Supply Chain Officer and her leadership team to amplify the organization’s efforts and drive engagement through compelling and cohesive communications.
An ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the supply chain industry and advanced knowledge and experience with planning, implementing and measuring strategic communications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and execute global internal and external communications to build visibility of LS&Co.’s supply chain organization and leadership, including global sustainability efforts.
• Collaborate with the Public Affairs and Levi Strauss Foundation teams to support our global storytelling efforts and enhance reputation around social and environmental sustainability.
• Partner with and provide strategic counsel to Chief Supply Chain Officer and her leadership team to drive alignment and engagement around communications programs. Includes hands-on support for media interviews and major internal and external presentations.
• Use different channels to effectively communicate global supply chain storylines internally and externally, including via business feature stories, key speaking engagements, internal events and social media.
• Translate global supply chain strategy into cohesive narrative and key message platform to proactively drive the company leadership in key markets; leverage messaging to bring attention to areas of differentiation or competitive advantage and to drive internal alignment.
• Through strategic internal communications, build engagement and acumen around key supply chain priorities and amplify key external news moments internally for employees.
• Work with global and regional teams to develop actionable and cohesive storytelling toolkits to maximize exposure and impact of proactive communications programs.
• Lead reactive media efforts related to Global Supply Chain and manage potential and actual unfolding media issues and crises.
• Build and manage relationships with key industry media and other external stakeholder groups.
• Lead executive visibility and thought leadership programs including awards, rankings, and conferences/external forums.
• Partner with members of the Corporate Affairs team to build business literacy; initiate ongoing assimilation of apparel industry news and trends and identify opportunities for proactive storytelling.
• Partner with Investor Relations, Legal and other stakeholders as necessary to ensure compliance with disclosure guidelines.
• Serve as company spokesperson.
• Monitor message pull-through and measure message effectiveness and impact.
• Member of Corporate Reputation, Executive Communications and Global Supply Chain teams.
• Manage external vendors as appropriate.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Writing, English, Communication, PR or related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in communications

• Proven ability to effectively manage internal and external communications
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; Ability to write for senior leaders
• Experience and high comfort level working with the media
• Strong leadership, influencing/coaching and negotiation skills; sometimes without having the control
• Outstanding project management skills; Deep understanding of how to build and implement global and regional communications strategies tailored for different audiences
• Demonstrated ability to build consensus among diverse audiences; ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with utmost discretion
• Strong business acumen and a good knowledge of current affairs
• Strong understanding of brands and brand-building strategies
• Professional posture and foresight; Demonstrated ability to present complex business ideas, strategies and results succinctly and persuasively at the senior executive level
• Understanding of communications measurement
Industry Requirements:
• Corporate communications experience in a large multi-national company or a global consumer brand
• Mix of agency and in-house experience preferable
• Knowledge of logistics environment and supply chain concepts preferable
• Experience partnering with public affairs preferable
