• Create pre-season plans that support product strategies for Retailer sales, gross margin and inventory by product classification.
• Develop, execute and communicate strategic merchandise and financial plans that support the merchandising, marketing and financial objectives for assigned programs/categories.
• Analyze in-season and historical data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities by department and classification. Communicate risk and propose corrective action effectively summarizing and presenting insights appropriate to audience.
• Provide weekly sales reporting and analysis to Sales & Merchandising teams. Analyze reporting and translate insights into actionable steps.
• Develop trusted partnership with account team. Anticipate / identify potential customer issues. Inform manager & suggest strategies to mitigate or correct.
• Assume full planning responsibility & ownership for ecommerce, from reporting to buying strategies
• Create and maintain style level (commit) and sku-level (replenishment) forecasts in appropriate system(s) and roll-ups to category level; Provide to Sourcing and Operations
• Maintain accurate demand plans for Operations & Sourcing
• Work closely with merchandising group in the development of a profitable line structure by providing product analysis and perspective
• Support Sales and Merchandising through POS, Hindsight and Sell-in reporting and analysis
• Develop Planograms that support the business plan/budget for the account
• Create/write customer orders for commit programs
• Support the financial budgeting process
• Monitor end of season retailer profitability and suggest actions to reduce retailer markdowns and maximize margin.
• Misc analysis/ad-hoc
• Position often communicates with external customer peers regarding product performance & business trends
Experience and Skills
• Participate in customers seasonal line reviews and planning sessions.
• Continually strive to improve quality of information, analytical techniques and systems.
• Participate in appropriate training programs.
• Be an advocate and agent for change. Endeavor to identify opportunities and propose solutions while anticipating impacts to others. Bring together cross functional team to mitigate/resolve potential issues.
• Leverage account knowledge to assist senior team members on companywide initiatives and/or special projects.
• Share knowledge with account planning peers to elevate the level of performance in the group at large.
• Effectively train and guide new analysts
• Computer literate including advanced spreadsheet skills. Also, create new formats for data collection and reporting.
• High level of oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of retail industry and/or childrens business.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.
• BS or BA degree and 3+ years experience in retail/wholesale planning or equivalent business analysis
• Some travel required for presentations and sales support
• Availability during core business hours
