TITLE: Senior Designer, Brand Design
MISSION/ROLE:
The Senior Designer will work under the direction of the Creative Director to support the conception and execution of Cole Haan branded materials including Corporate Identity, Logos/Lock Ups, Hangtags, Labels, Style Guides, Presentations, Retail and Specialty Packaging, Environmental/Signage, etc.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Oversee the creation of assets for retail, wholesale and outlet store needs including: window graphics, in-store signage and advertising layouts.
Work with Art Director and Visual Merchandising teams to develop seasonal design assets in campaign concept presentations, including: direct mail and promotional materials.
Execute seasonal direct mail, PR lookbooks, promotional materials, and special packaging projects.
Review and manage feedback of assets developed by overseas and licensing partners.
Design and oversee creation of external market presentations in conjunction with visual merchandising teams.
Design product playbooks and retail product knowledge documents.
Research creative trends in competitive markets and apply that knowledge to the development of marketing projects.
Work with Art Director to lay out appropriate visual cropping recommendations in seasonal imagery overview documents for wholesale and international partners.
Maintain brand and typographic consistency across materials and brand channels.
Develop brand identities for collaborations and sub-brands, working with the CD to research competitive and best in class examples; research inspirational images and products; develop logos and logotypes; photo-comp usage examples; and compile final presentation boards.
Translate business and marketing objectives/platform(s) into a compelling and cohesive visual identity for Cole Haan.
Help create brand and product design inspiration books, working with the CD, the Brand Copywriter and the Concept Department to research imagery; develop seasonal narrative; and lay out books.
Help develop, define and document new and evolving brand and corporate identities.
Stay current on design/fashion/editorial/retail/competitor trends.
Anticipate and resolve creative challenges independently.
Manage junior designers, freelance designers and interns; provide a framework for creative and professional growth.
Requirements
BFA in Communications Design, Graphic Design or related major
Minimum of 6 years previous experience within a design studio or creative agency
Previous experience with fashion or lifestyle brands preferred
Outstanding typographic and graphic design, brand identity and digital experience; experience with packaging design and familiarity with design turnover specifications
Must be highly motivated and independent; an enthusiastic team player with a proven ability to provide fresh, "out-of-the-box" solutions
Must have the management and communication skills necessary to function and collaborate productively in large interdisciplinary teams that include creative leads, merchandising, marketing, product design, graphic design and visual merchandising teams
Strong ability to multi-task, work under pressure, manage time efficiently to meet all project deadlines
Immaculate attention to detail
Mastery of appropriate tools & technology; expert or advanced skills with Adobe Suite/standard industry software
