We are currently offering an excellent opportunity for a Director of Special Eventsat our corporate office in New York, NY.
The Director of Special Events is responsible for working with the VP of Communications in the strategic development and execution of all special events for Barneys New York across the country. This position will create meaningful and impactful events that garner press and brand awareness, foster strong community relations, drive sales, client loyalty and customer acquisition to Barneys New York.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Responsible for working with the VP of Communications in developing the strategy and overseeing execution of all events including but not limited to all off-site and in-store campaign, image, customer, charity, added-value and Holiday events for all Barneys New York markets.
• Oversee design and production for all events including conceptualization, timeline creation, vendor procurement and management, staffing reports, venue scouting, invitation and menu creation, sourcing of materials, on-site run-of-show.
• Work closely with the Marketing, Publicity and Digital teams to develop omni-channel communications strategies for vendor partnerships
• Work closely with regional markets and store managers to develop strategies to support their local clientele and communities
• Develop and manage the corporate charitable giving strategy as well as analyze charitable requests, recommend partnerships and target local outreach.
• Responsible for creating and balancing the annual Special Events and Charitable Donations Budgets.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 7 year of events related experience
• Exceptional organization skills
• Ability to proactively prioritize, manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously within time constraints and with strong attention to detail.
• Proven track record in event production and on-site event execution
• Experience working in regional markets
• Proven managerial skills
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Power Point, Publisher, Excel; knowledge of AutoCAD and / or Illustrator a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams
• Ability to work extended hours and travel to all store locations as necessary
• Proven business communication and writing skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with co-workers and business contacts in a professional manner
• Communicate effectively and fluidly with key corporate and store executives
• BA/BS degree
• Fashion/Retail background a plus
