About the role:
The Art Director is a multi-faceted creative thinker who is able to bring the Refinery29 brand to life across multiple touch-points physically and digitally. This role sits in the Brand Leadership Team: an independent group led by the Executive Creative Director that focuses on brand health and bringing the mission and values of the company to life in innovative, new ways that can then roll out to the rest of the company.

What you’ll do:
• Have our brand and mission as their north stars: Thinking of new ways Refinery29 can support, empower, and inspire women and how to bring more imagination, impact, individuality, and inclusivity into all our work at R29
• Conceptualize and innovate how our R29 brand is brought to life, digitally and physically, leading strategic, unique initiatives and experiences for our audience that also have the potential to be packaged for partnership and sponsorship
• As a key member of our Brand group, AD will be accountable for bringing Refinery29's brand strategy into action, influencing brand consistency, brand positioning, brand awareness, and brand architecture, working as an advocate and driver of our award-winning brand
• Lead art direction and strategy for key R29 brand initiatives (i.e. Refinery29's annual event 29Rooms), partnering with wider Design/Creative team to execute
• In partnership with the Brand and HR teams, continuously evolving and innovating how our brand gets educated internally; developing bespoke education workshops and fun, memorable ongoing initiatives that give our teams the tools to bring our brand to life 24/7 in the work they do
• Work closely with marketing to develop and execute on key partnerships that are exciting, shareable, press worthy, and exemplify our brand essence
• Responsible for directing the overall look and feel of our brand as it translates to internal and external communications and the templates and tools we provide internal teams to consistently represent the brand
• Partner with ECD and Business Development team to explore product development and creative licensing opportunities that expand our audience reach and revenue potential
• Advocating for our brand, mission, and creative voice internally and externally
What you have:
• 5-7 years of experience in a brand marketing or advertising design role
• A background in Design, Art Direction, Branding, Internal and External communication
• Experience commissioning and negotiating with artists across mediums
• Leadership experience developing educational programming around a brand
