Description
As our Global Accounting Operations Director, you'll have the following key job accountabilities:
Leadership:
• Provides visible leadership and delivers effective and timely communications and feedback to the team and management. Acts as a champion for the shared delivery vision, mission, and strategy across the enterprise.
• Manages and leads a team to drive the department’s strategy activation forward. This includes providing global support to ensure:
◦ Process improvement and technology implementations that benefit the GAO are planned, administered, and deployed within timelines and budget;
◦ Preparing, enhancing, and delivering on our current governance mechanisms, which includes the widespread alignment and distribution of our R2R metrics;
◦ Governing our robotics automation COE, including the management of intake of opportunities and control over the transactions;
◦ Develops, coordinates, plans, and deploys intake opportunities from around the globe into the GAO team.
• Manages employees and sets individual goals that link to departmental priorities. Coaches staff, supports development, makes hiring decisions, and drives performance management, recognition and rewards.
• Manages global projects and initiatives throughout the year; implements and manages global process governance to provide standardization and meet efficiency targets.
• Develops global solutions to current operational challenges; acts as a key senior leadership influencer to implement these global solutions.
Core Accounting and Reporting:
• Leads team in the preparation of timely and insightful analysis of pertinent information to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information in line with GAAP and NIKE accounting policy.
• Manages shared services processes as defined by, and for, the COEs/process owners. Reviews, executes, and supports the closing of financial statements. Maintains an understanding of business environment that affects these processes.
• Leads the development of global action plans in conjunction with COEs/management teams related to process optimization, standardization, and centralization. Drives forward process operating model with cross-functional/global stakeholders.
• Leads policy development and functional discussions/initiatives across departments.
• Utilizes advanced knowledge of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to maintain a risk-optimized environment. Ensures such policies, procedures, and controls are in place and working effectively. Identifies how changes to processes create/change risks to financial reporting.
Tools:
• Supports governance, maintenance, and establishment of technological solutions. Manages resources to identify and target opportunities for global solutions.
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
• 10+ years relevant experience
• SAP experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate status, issues, and risks with leadership team
• MS Office and advanced Excel skills
• Customer service and cross-functional interpersonal skills
• Consistent attention to detail.
Preferred:
• 3-5 years with a National public accounting firm
• 8+ years with a Fortune 500/multinational consumer products company
• Deep operational process subject matter and expertise
• Process optimization background (LEAN, Six Sigma) preferred
