Nine West Group is currently seeking Fall 2017 Design Interns for our Footwear Design team. This role assists the Design team in all aspects of the footwear design process (trend research, sketching, materials/colors, detailing of the line, samples, market week). Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Perform trend research via web and magazine to provide the design team with latest trend concepts.
• Trend research, help identify new trends/items and create trend flash mood boards with swipes
• Assist in the building of the footwear collections
• Help to sketch designs for the collection, alongside Design team
• Set up sketch boards for detailing and proto meetings
• Create & maintain sketch binders
• Clean up sketches in Photoshop for sketch decks and color-ups
• Create & maintain sketch decks
• Help to detail the collection, alongside design team
• Performs color-ups for customers and spec reviews
• Takes notes at sketch & proto reviews
• Saves & prints photos of prototypes for proto correction meetings with technical team
• Accompanies designers when correcting prototypes and takes detail notes on prototype photos
• Creates ornament tech packs on Photoshop/illustrator
• Attend pre- and post-market sales meetings as well as various meetings with major accounts during market week.

• Preferred areas of study are Footwear or Accessories Design.
• Able to commit to 40 hours a week
• Multi-tasking and prioritizing skills.
• Must be able to take initiative.
• Must be able to work well within a large team.
• Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel, Word.
