Overview
The Director, Ecommerce Development will lead the Websphere and Mulesoft Ecommerce Development team. This position will manage the development tasks and work with production support to provide a high level of availability. This role will oversee third party development and service. This position will also participate in the design of more complex applications, including front-end and back-end components
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
• Work with business partners to gather and develop business requirements to enhance the existing web site and develop new web site capabilities supporting desktop, tablet, mobile and App versions of the site
• Lead and facilitate meetings with Web Developers to analyze business requirements to ensure possible design and updates of applications
• Oversee and manage the Web Developers to create, design, update, and modify web applications
• Implement and oversee Agile development methodology
• Work with Product team to provide level of effort estimates to help in prioritization of maintenance and strategic development tasks
• Work with QA to develop performance and system testing processes
• Ensure new or updated web applications are in compliance with the company’s technology and risk standards
• Develop timeline or calendar for development projects and ensure timely completion
• Work with architecture resources for creating and adhering to standards for creating and modifying applications
• Oversee the evaluation and testing of written code and new application s developed by direct reports and confirm business requirements have been met
• Implement technical solutions that will be delivered on time, within budget.
• Establish and implement operational controls and best practice deployment strategies.
• Lead and organize e-commerce projects by defining project purpose, scope, resource allocation.
• Monitor, report, and effectively communicate project status through the agreed upon reporting structure.
• Review performance of Web Developers and train them in new technologies
• Participate in 24x7 production operations support
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
• 12+ years of experience in related roles
• Experience in eCommerce development and support required
• Familiarity with Omni-channel concepts preferred
• 5+ years of experience in the Retail industry is a must
Skills and Behaviors:
• Deep knowledge of eCommerce systems, specifically IBM’s Websphere Commerce
• Understanding of the data integration needs for eCommerce and omni-channel
• Ability to effectively lead a team to strategize and develop a long term, sustainable vision
• Ability to lead change in a corporate environment
• Must be able to work effectively through ambiguous and complex projects with great attention to detail
• Must be able to communicate effectively within and across the business units
• Working knowledge of retail processes and operations
• Strong applied technical knowledge in operations and infrastructure technologies with relevant experience in 24x7 network operations
• Must be able to provide after-hours support as needed.
• Knowledge of API programming - API Gateway, Mulesoft, Apigee
• Load & Performance for large scale ecommerce applications
• SOLR - expereince with search engines preferred
• Experience with monitoring tools - implementation and utilization of Tealeaf, Appdynamics, New Relic
