Job Description
We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic intern to join our Supply Chain and Logistics team, on a 12 month fixed term contract. This person will complete 4 rotations across the Supply Chain and Logistics team, to gain exposure across all areas.
What you’ll be doing…
Rotation 1 – Inbound
• Develop a good understanding of how Supply Chain is organized from new vendor setup until stock keeping
• Liaise with Merchandisers to support them in managing intake, including the supplier booking process and lost stock
• Support each of the inbound functions (FOB, UK NCS and Reprocessing) and respond to any queries from ASOS B&M teams and services provided
• Understand the import/export process across the 3 mode of transport (Sea, air and road)
• Develop a topline understanding of movement types, modes and processes for all of the stock movement activity. This includes lead times by country, managing utilisation and carrier policy that could impact intake volumes
• Gain an understanding of how the inbound supply chain system works and what are the benefits it provides to the business.
Rotation 2 - Logistics (Operations)
• Understand what we do in Logistics to enhance the customer experience
• Develop a wider business understanding around the role of B&M International function, distribution technology and customer care
• Learn the role of logistics in the wider business – what we influence and our key stakeholders.
• Gain an understanding of warehouse finance and the warehouse operations reporting
• Support the rest of the logistics team and warehouse over peak (Black Friday and Christmas period)
Rotation 2 (B) - International Logistics Operations
• Gain insight into the role of our international sites including the supplier direct process, international IWT’S and Eurohub replenishment
Rotation 3 - Delivery Solutions
• Support the delivery solution team in carrier meetings, discussing performance and volumes.
• Aim to build relationships with carriers and visit as many carrier sites as possible
• Understand how the forecast is built and impact of data on carriers and the FC planning
• Understand different carrier rate structures & why we use certain carriers
• Support a delivery solutions manager with analytical tasks and innovation projects that change the way we deliver goods to customer
Rotation 4- Logistics Development
• Gain an understanding of the Development Team roadmap and the strategy for the coming years
• Learn the role of Development within the wider business – what we influence and our key stakeholders
• Understand the Development process from end to end, feasibility through to implementation
