Travel Retail EMEA - Store Designer (London based)
Description
Travel Retailing wish to recruit a Store Designer to be based in the Travel Retailing London offices and reporting to the Store Design Manager.
The role’s main responsibility is to design counters following the brand’s technical guidelines and within each project’s given space, specific design requirements and schedule.
The role includes the following responsibilities:
Store Design: to provide a full set of architectural drawings for every given project, working to set corporate standards generated from the brands in New York. The role of the Store Designer is to provide creative and innovative solutions using the latest materials, lighting and digital technology.
The role will encompass liaising with shop-fitters, internal and external teams as well as retailers in order to ensure successful and well-executed installations.
Communication: to communicate on a regular basis with Visual Merchandising and Project Managers as well as the Retailer’s technical department in order to ensure that all designs are approved by all parties involved, and that they are submitted to the retailers within their set time schedule.
Technical drawings: to liaise directly with the nominated shopfitters, in order to check & approve construction drawings and materials spec. It is essential to visit the shopfitter’s factories prior to installation, in order to ensure the quality of manufacture.
Store visits: to travel on site after the installation is complete (particularly for flagship stores), in order to check the quality of the build and to follow up with the shopfitters in order to resolve any snagging issues.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have an architecture or interior design background with a knowledge of shopfitting / construction and a sound understanding of design office methods. Proficient computer skills, particularly in Apple MAC VectorWorks, Cinema 4D (3D design software) are essential.
Degree educated in a related interior design, architecture or 3D Design qualification would be beneficial.
Candidates should possess an appreciation of design and knowledge of shopfitting and construction, attention to detail and a thorough awareness of the retail environment. They should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and project management skills and enjoy a flexible team environment working to deadlines.
