When you join LPK as a Verbal Intern, we expect you to have an uncompromising work ethic and a passion for writing, brainstorming and researching. You will play an active support role on the team while being fully immersed in LPK culture. So what are you waiting for? Let’s get going!
A Peek Inside the Life of a Verbal Intern:
• Each day brings a different project. Expect to work on different brands that require varying writing styles and that need new and unique content.
• You’ll do things like create brand names, package copy, collateral copy (direct-to-consumer pieces, brochures, etc.) and taglines. You’ll also proofread, build presentations, participate in brainstorming sessions, conduct research and share relevant case studies and inspiration.
• You’ll attend and participate in internal reviews, presenting relevant insights and the strategic rationale behind verbal solutions.
• Soon, you’ll also begin to understand various aspects of building a brand (competitive landscape analysis, defining business objectives, establishing design strategy and participating in project management).
• Most important, you won’t be doing this all alone. You’ll work alongside other verbal team members in a highly collaborative setting.
Expectations:
• You’ll be expected to follow the guidance and insights of the verbal team, but offer up new ideas and solutions when appropriate.
• Proactively seek coaching and training opportunities from guides and team members.
• Be responsive to feedback and push work forward based on that direction.
• Hit deadlines, because even the best writing is useless if it’s delivered late.
• Hone your writing, technical, analytical and presentation skills.
• Develop an understanding of brand strategy and strategic copywriting.
• Roll with the punches. Sometimes the project changes, so our work has to change, too.
• Gain exposure to and participate in the LPK culture, but don’t fade into the woodwork. We want outstanding performers and personalities.
• Bring a point of view, stay curious and ask questions.
The Pre-Req’s & Fine Print:
• Minimum education: Sophomore status with a focus on English, Marketing, Advertising or Liberal Arts path relevant to our work
• Interns must maintain a GPA of 3.0–4.0+
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
