PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVE:
The Senior Designer will work with the Director to initiate creative and innovative design solutions, maintain and control the style and standards of Visual Merchandising programs; and aggressively pursue the development and execution of new concepts across the color and makeup categories. Strive to bring new these ideas to reality while being cost effective and at the forefront of design and technology. Champion and ensure global consistency by building strong relationships with the regional design offices.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Create compelling Line testers and Launch testers based on briefs from marketing. Key to this position is helping the Director manage the model and comp construction of your specific category.
• A new focus within the Color and Makeup category is to create testers and manage updates of The Estee Edit and well as design innovative solutions for Estee Lauder collaborations such as Victoria Beckham. The approval process with all such collaborations requires strong management skills and the ability to work seamlessly with others outside of the organization.
• Partner with the Global Store Design team to ensure an outstanding, cohesive, always evolving Estee Lauder instore environment. There will be a specific focus on fixtures and tester systems for our Free Standing Store and Flagship Store Program.
• Review, critique layouts and provide three-dimensional models to ensure that the EL image and marketing objectives exceed expectations. Ensure quality of final production with GMD and IP. (Global Merchandising Design and Indirect Procurement)
• Maintain awareness of trends, styles, materials and technology relative to the competition. Provide learnings to Global Merchandising Team and Global Store Design.
• Actively participate at meetings and be able to expedite programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Industrial Design (or equivalent) degree is required plus 3+ years design experience.
• Prior experience as a designer in a fast-paced, high pressure creative environment. Cosmetic industry experience a plus.
• Position requires outstanding leadership and project management skills.
• Position requires strong presentation skills, ability to personally organize, prioritize and manage Designer members and free-lancers.
• Ability to manage a successful initiation and execution of numerous projects simultaneously.
• Must be a self-starter, flexible and imaginative with an elevated sense of three-dimensional design.
• Position requires awareness of Social/Digital platforms and ability to design merchandising concepts that activate social/digital experience in-store and can also be cascaded across social media platforms.
• Knowledge of retail trends and environments
• Proficiency utilizing MAC Systems platforms specifically current 3D programs to model fixtures and store environments.
