Director, Global Merchandise Planning, Girls' and Toddler Girls', Gap Brand
• Manage the financial success of the division by meeting sales, comp, gross margin, gross margin return on investment and inventory turn goals.
• Present divisional overview of Merchandise Planning strategy at business meetings.
• Partner with company planning and merchandising to strategize, develop, and manage long range divisional financial plans that support brand strategies.
• Lead development of pre-season division strategy and approve pre-season sales and inventory plans for division with Merchant partner that supports brand objectives.
• Direct the development of divisional, departmental, and class bottom-up merchandise plans.
• Recommend seasonal merchandise flow strategies that maximize sales, profitability and customer expectation in the development of the annual Merchandise flow calendar.
• Conduct the divisional open to buy meetings.
• Lead cross-functional team in managing opportunities and risks through the open to buy/monthly forecast process.
• Present divisional position at the monthly forecast meeting.
• Approve divisional financial sales, gm, and inventory forecasts and supporting strategies.
• Analyze financial performance to pre-season strategies and recommend strategic business shifts as required.
• Strategize, develop and communicate divisional markdown direction.
• Collaborate with merchandising counterpart to approve style and price point markdown recommendations.
• Communicate markdown exception list.
• Participate in, lead, and/or sponsor company and brand initiatives.
• Represent divisional point of view in key meetings.
• Communicate key timelines,and deliverables, and expectations to planning and cross-functional team members in a timely manner.
• Communicate financial results, forecasts, and action plans to Sr. Director/VP and cross-functional team on a weekly basis.
• Set priorities, foster teamwork and set expectations for planning team.
• Effectively manage and support the career development process of staff to ensure job satisfaction and retention.
• Actively participate in cross-division manpower review meetings within brand.
• Partner with Vice President to develop succession plans by identifying and developing bench-strength.
• Provide timely and actionable feedback and direction to direct reports to foster rapid skill development, to identify strengths, and to improve performance.
• Participate in formalized mentoring relationship within planning organization.
• Lead goal setting process to meet brand and individual development objectives.
• Recognize and reward quality performance.
• Provide Sr. Director/VP with timely feedback on personal developmental and training needs.
• Provide support and direction to Department cross functional teams by partnering and effectively communicating with other heads of Merchandising, Production, Distribution, Company Planning, Store Planning, Visual, Marketing, NYPD and the Field
• Ensure planning function can actively participate in and lead a collaborative process.
• Develop and maintain cross-divisional and cross-brand peer relationships to share best practices and align processes.
• Foster a collaborative, innovative, results-oriented work environment.
• Ensure planning and cross-functional goals are aligned.
• Lead teams to make and support timely, results-oriented decisions.

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required
• Advanced degree desired
• 2-4 years experience as a Planning Manager or equivalent
• 5-7 years of retail buying, planning or equivalent experience
• 2-4 years experience managing a team
