Overview
The associate buyer is responsible for creating an exciting, timely, and quality product assortment that meets or exceeds the sales volume and profit plans for their departments. They intuitively respond to customer feedback, market trends and develop action plans that drive category specific growth and increased profitability. They are responsible for the success of their business. The buyer is expected to use their fashion intuition to direct the assortment of their category, in the correct brand appropriate way. They must successfully work in developing product range creatively in market with strategic vendor mix.
Responsibilities
• An understanding of the customer's wants and needs and the ability to identify the appropriate product/trend that will appeal to the customer and meet their expectations
• An understanding for the Anthropologie customer and the shopping experience and that it is the final category edit for the merchandising assortment
• The ability to conceptually plan assortments that meet financial objectives
• The ability to creatively develop product that addresses identified trends
• The ability to delegate and direct the daily activities of the assistants and provide direction to the team
• The ability to prioritize tasks and the ability to balance the immediate and long term needs of the business
• The ability to research and execute development of product in market place
• Personal skills to work well with cross functional partners and team to achieve plans
• The ability to comprehend financial indicators with partnership of planning to react and drive business
• The ability to collect, assimilate, analyze, package and present information
Qualifications
• Minimum of three years experience in retail buying or a similar capacity
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
• Ability to build and maintain productive partnerships and demonstrate strong listening, oral and written communication skills

Education
A Bachelors degree is expected.
