Responsibilities
As the Footwear Materials Development Intern, you will assist the Domestic Development Team as they produce footwear styles from concept to commercialization for US manufacturing.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Provide library support such as locating materials or vendor catalogs, organization library wares and displays, and guiding our product team members as they use the library
• Support the materials developer in preparing seasonal trend presentations and palettes
• Internal and external distribution of confirmed materials and colors
• Leading the tracking & organizing of confirmed materials and seasonal color palettes
• Assist with ordering and creating part numbers for new materials.
KEY CUSTOMERS:
• Domestic Product Development
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
• By the end of the internship you will have gained a solid understanding of how footwear materials are created, produced, and implemented within domestic manufacturing.
• You will have a hands on experience of how prototypes and production shoes are made in our domestic factories
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
• Domestic Product Development Manager
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
• A strong interest in footwear… materials, design, construction, and/or manufacturing.
• Enrolled in a Bachelors program in one of the following or related fields: industrial design, apparel design, textile science, or fine arts OR recent completion of such a degree.
• Proficient Mac computer skills including Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• You have an outgoing personality, and are comfortable speaking to all types of personalities.
• Self motivated
• Comfortable in a busy environment
