The Art Department Graphic Designer utilizes creativity and technical expertise to design content for Art Department projects. The Graphic Designer prepares packaging, catalog, and special graphic request materials and is responsible for the execution of finished print pieces under the supervision of the Design Manager. The Graphic Designer is creative, upbeat, and extremely detail-oriented and manages deadline pressure easily, can juggle multiple projects at a time, is extremely organized, and has a can-do attitude. Excellent communication and expert computer skills are a must.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design packaging materials as directed. Work closely with packaging developers and supervise the production of projects in a timely manner. Follow up on production, ensuring regulatory demands are met.
• Responsible for catalog production and management. Meets all catalog deadlines for design and print.
• Design Marketing and PR related materials (press releases, posters, ads, invitations, postcards, presentation materials, direct mailers and other miscellaneous design projects).
• Present design options at various stages of completion, making changes as necessary.
• Work both independently and with a group to create art that is unique, innovative, and on-brand.
• Prepare electronic files for output, which can include photo retouching and color correcting of electronic files.
• Proofread copy in layout and assist in checking materials in other media for accuracy. Route materials to various internal parties as directed. Verify corrections as needed.
• Collaborate with Designers, Copy Writers, and Marketing Personnel to present multiple solutions to a project.
• Support team in building and achieving creative group goals and objectives.
• All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• 3-4+ years of graphic design experience.
• Degree in Graphic Design or related field.
• Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, and font management software.
• Knowledge of four-color printing process and the ability to pre-flight and archive files.
• Demonstrated ability in basic studio hand skills such as measuring, cutting, gluing, mounting and craftsmanship.
• Experience with package production processes.
• Organized and efficient, paying close attention to details while handling multiple tasks.
• A sense of urgency and ability to handle tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to take direction and problem solve.
