MISSION
The Production Planner, under the direction of the Senior Director, is responsible for planning, issuing and tracking all Omni channel production orders and ensuring that finished product is delivered on-time and meets established quality standards. The Production Planner will partner with cross functional teams to develop long-term category planning strategies that align with overall production strategy. Responsible for the cost analysis and pricing (both pre and final) of product category to ensure financial goals of the company are met.
KEY RESULTS AREAS
Buying
• Issue Omni channel production commitments to minimize all surcharges.
• Communicate production issues or delivery delays to the appropriate cross functional team members, customer service, allocations, and imports.
• Analyze sales against purchases and adjust size scales in season to maximize sales and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Maintain accurate record of all production purchase orders.
• Responsible for daily production issues and communication with TBGS & other Agents or Vendors.
• Process any special Omni Channel in season requests.
• Collaborate with Fabric R&D in raw material development that guides design in developing product into a good, better, best pricing structure by category and fabric minimums.
• Keep Senior Director aware of any potential oversold situations or excessive inventory levels.
• Partner with DTG and Design teams on preparing and executing chase and/or fast track strategies.
• Partner with Inventory Management on divisional investments to ensure that smart risks are being taken, basic businesses are protected and financial targets are met.
• Support future category strategies where needed and provide appropriate and timely direction to the cross-functional team.
Costing
• Initiate, review, analyze and negotiate all development and final costing based on proposed fabric qualities and styling; coordinate with Design on options to reduce costs as required.
• Review and finalize all wholesale & retail prices, analyze price value relationship and gross margins in order to achieve seasonal financial goals with sign off from the Senior Director.
• Set up seasonal cost sheets and negotiate prices with TBGS/Vendors.
• Update costing on FOB pricing and gross margin; apply surcharges on PO’s and cost sheets when necessary.
• Partner with TBGS/Vendors to create strategies and drive decisions regarding costing, fabric positioning and inventory flexibility.
• Analyze category market for pricing comparisons.
Data and Reporting
• Ensure timely set up and maintenance of seasonal style master and cost sheets in Blue Cherry.
• Review and publish product placement by channel each season.
• Prepare seasonal Omni Channel sales, purchases and margin recaps for reporting.
Calendar
• Monitor and/or develop category specific calendars to meet production timing.
Miscellaneous
• Travel to visit Agents/Factories to strengthen vendor relationships and to better understand sourcing and vendor capabilities.
• Actively look for opportunities to improve and streamline processes to reduce costs & maximize profit.
• Develop best-in-class in support of category growth, customer responsiveness and speed to market.
EXPERIENCE, TALENT AND EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent experience
• Experience in retail merchandizing a plus.
• Strong MS Excel skills.
• PLM system knowledge desirable.
• PDM experience desired.
• Production planning, forecasting, knowledge of production process, lead-times, garment construction.
• Requires the ability to work cooperatively with many different departments with varying agendas, to be service oriented.
