Designer, Nautica
• Manage the development of assigned Product collection in line with the seasonal merchandise plan. Deliver accordingly to achieve seasonal objectives.
◦ Manage fit, fabric, finish, trim (including packaging and labeling) developments
◦ Manage on-site development support
◦ Manage prototyping
◦ Manage complete technical specifications for developments
◦ Manage fit sessions
◦ Oversee specifications execution
◦ Manage costing process (target, brief, prototype, sample) and identify opportunities for improving cost
◦ Solve design construction/fabric/colour/quality issues in collaboration with production through entire process until production
◦ Line calendar adherence
◦ Budget control for relevant team in regards to travel, consultancy and samples etc.
• Creative guidance for the category
• Align VF Asia with the International brand positioning, trends and products
• Manage product design geared towards delivering a clear, innovative and consumer target focused message that will position the brand as a market leader and is in line with the annual growth plan
• Supervise creative development of the assigned product range
• Support Senior Product manager in execution of Product strategies and seasonal inspiration/product stories. Input as well as involvement.
• Translate design direction into both seasonal and long term concepts relevant for the Brand
• conduct market research to identify trends appropriate to the Brand. Keep updated with general market trends, changing consumer behavior and new product opportunities.
• Liaise with Product Managers to identify product needs in terms of the line size, commercial market needs and product delivery schedules
• Responsible and own design and development process, completion of seasonal design concepts, proposals of fabric selections, color cards and design briefings as well as fitting of prototypes design presentation formats and cross functional presentations
• Relationship building – establish good internal and external partners relationship
◦ Create, drive and sustain highly effective and influential key relationships with internal and external partners that will deliver the business objectives
◦ Cooperate with US design team to ensure Asian line well align with US concept
◦ Work closely with product management in order to ensure synergy throughout the process
◦ Interact with individual markets in order to support understanding of seasonal creative product direction and future market trends
◦ Work closely with external creative partners (ie. Freelancers) in order to ensure alignment and smooth ways of working within calendar deadlines
◦ Work closely with production and development centers to ensure the product execution delivers in line with the brief and to achieve required product costs
◦ Ensure that production team are kept informed about development progress
