Overview
The Assistant Buyer is responsible for working with the Buyer to create an exciting and timely product assortment that meets or exceeds the sales volume and profits for their departments. They execute the vision of the CEO, GMM, DMM, and Buyer while servicing the Anthropologie customer.
Responsibilities
• Understand the store profile by product category to assist the Buyer in tailoring the assortment to optimize regional and demographic differences.
• Respond to customer feedback and market trends and develop action plans that drive category-specific growth and increased profitability.
• Work with the Buyer to learn how to determine the overall mix of market and private label product for each buying area to ensure a customer-oriented final mix.
• Make recommendations to the Buyer for marketing and promotional opportunities for their categories and suggest development of the marketing, packaging, and promotional plans.
• Prioritize tasks and balance the immediate and long-term needs of the business.
• Use Island Pacific to maintain accuracy of on order and for basic analysis such as style analysis, item performance, and key item flows.
• Liaison between vendors and the Buyer.
• When orders are not shipped by cancel date, contact the vendor to arrange for credits.
• Provide ad hoc statistical reports to the buyer.
Qualifications
• 2-3 years retail buying experience.
• Ability to work on cross functional teams.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Clear and concise presentation skills.
• An understanding of the customer's wants and needs, the shopping experience, and the ability to creatively identify the appropriate product/trend that will appeal to the customer and meet their expectations.
• Fundamental understanding of the statistical components of the business (IMU%, MD%, GM%, selloff, WOS, etc.) and the OTB.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Business, or a related field.
