Lead Digital Designer - Miss Selfridge
OVERVIEW
With a drive to refresh and reposition Miss Selfridge, attracting a younger audience and elevating our position within the digital market place, the brand has been through considerable change in the last 12 months.
There have been a number of Board level changes, bringing a new and fresh focus to the product, customer, culture, imagery and branding.
This position will have an integral role to play in the new brand direction.
The online design team sits across the digital/creative departments and is responsible for the design of all online creative including: UK website, International websites, mobile site, APPs, editorial, video, online photo shoots, emails, affiliate banners, social, site product photography.
The Lead Digital Designer has responsibility for the look and feel of all digital outputs, keeping it consistent with brand guidelines whilst moving Miss Selfridge forward creatively. Working on commercial presentation and innovation through all channels as well as the development of all platforms.
Working closely with the brand creative team to ensure consistent and integrated communications across all channels. Managing a team of 2 (1 x Digital Designer and 1 x Junior Digital Designer)
A good eye for detail, love of design, typography, photography and fashion is necessary along with the ability to thrive in a busy, pressured environment.
In order to meet ambitious forecasts the Lead Digital Designer is required to drive forward the onsite presentation for Miss Selfridge to give both a creative and commercial edge on the competition. Strong creative skills and a track record in producing cutting edge designs in an online environment is a prerequisite. Ideally the candidate will have experience working for a number of key ecommerce sites particularly in fashion.
For this role you will need skills and experience in Adobe Creative Suite and have a sound knowledge of HTML processes and limitations.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Creative Standards
• Create ‘look and feel’ for all ecommerce communications and product presentation in line with
• brand creative strategy
• Set and monitor digital creative standards
• Work closely with content and marketing to plan and execute innovative content
Commerciality
• Design clear, commercial and effective ecommerce communications taking input from key stake holders
• Where appropriate optimise for search and download efficiency
• Work with Online Production Manager and Digital Marketing Manager to optimise usability
Creative Production
• Develop strong relationship and work closely with web production team to ensure high quality
• and detail of design build is upheld across sites
• Liaise with external contacts such as developers, photographers and videographers
• Traffic creative briefs and manage production within team and external suppliers to ensure
• delivery to deadlines.
• Respond to briefs as appropriate - presenting mock-ups and storyboards for more detailed
• features
• Manage response to feedback and amends
• Ensure output conforms to best practice for device / Group / web standards
Group Updates
To work on designs for ad hoc projects with regards to extending or altering the online
proposition e.g. mobile site, Ipad App, Android App & International sites
General
• Works closely with Lead Graphic Designer, Customer Experience Director and Head of Digital to ensure consistent and integrated communications across all channels.
• Conduct frequent SWOT/ competitor research
• Responsible for QA of all design elements
• Responsible for concepting all online photoshoots working closely with Content team
• Define and implement creative briefing processes for all ecommerce marketing and production functions
• Be informed on industry developments in their area and feed into team & strategy
• Follow all required sign-off procedures
MUST HAVES
• Excellent Photoshop & Illustrator skills
• Good understanding of online/mobile user experience
• Knowledge of HTML processes/limitations
• Ability to develop concepts and ideas
• Experience of trafficking workflow
• Plus an understanding of:
• HTML
• CSS
• Flash
• Dreamweaver
• W3C standards based development
• JavaScript
• AJAX
• Basic knowledge of SEO
