The Converse Direct to Consumer (DTC) business is as successful as the people that best represent the brand.
The Global Director of Retail Operations will establish the vision and strategy that define the framework and initiatives to drive operational excellence for Converse Stores globally. The Global Director will partner with Geography and other Global teams to identify opportunities and the priorities that will enable growth and elevate store productivity. They will partner cross-functionally to implement store centric solutions that assist stores in achieving business and people goals aligned with Global Direct to Consumer (DTC) strategies. They will partner with Technology, HR, Procurement and Regional Store Operations teams to create and implement best in class store tools, platforms and programs that drive scalable, sustainable business practices and premium customer service and experiences. The Director will oversee the Labor Optimization, Store Tools and Process and Retail Procurement functions at the Global level. Most importantly, as a leader in the organization, the Director will be responsible for creating, coaching and inspiring a high performing functional team.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Develop the functional team strategy for Retail Operations in collaboration with Geography and Global teams to drive operational excellence and premium experiences in Converse stores
• Define global standards for Store tools, processes, programs and labor optimization. Partner with geographies to localize as needed. To include, but not limited to, Stockroom Org., Store Systems, OPR, Store Scheduling foundations, policy & standards, store openings, mobile solutions
• Creates budget and resource plan for new program and platform implementations
• Leads the implementation of Wage Optimization strategies to include foundational best practices and system implementations to elevate labor optimization and store productivity
• Collects geography feedback and monitors effectiveness and consistency of established programs across geographies. Reports out globally and adjusts as needed. Promotes learning exchange between global and regional operations to leverage the learnings globally
• Plans and conducts initial training for new programs with geography teams
• Collaborates with DTC Technology on the strategic approach to assess and determine existing and emerging technologies that can enhance and positively impact the growth of retail
• Partners with Global Procurement and other cross-functional teams to identify solutions and programs that best serve the business. Leads the ongoing evaluation and operation of global programs that involve third party partners (Store fixture programs, music contracts, shopping bags)
• Lead, coach, drive and inspire a high preforming team. Define individual goals and objectives for direct reports aligned to DTC and Converse strategy and priorities. Prioritize and measure team workload
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Strategy or related field. Advanced degree preferred
• 4+ years Store management experience. Global experience preferred
• 7+ years’ experience leading corporate Retail Operations teams. Global experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to store profitability and productivity
• Record of leading strategy and individuals but also executing work on a lean team to deliver results
• Proven leadership to drive results through others. Coach, lead and inspire teams to win
• Experience in the following areas required: Loss Prevention, Wage Mgt., Store Policy and Procedures, Vendor Mgt., Store processes, store fixture programs.
• Thorough understanding of Store Systems (POS, Mobile Tech., Wage Mgt., Inventory Mgt.)
• Strong project management skills. Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Ability to create and manage project and department budgets
• Ability to network, collaborate and leverage internal and external resources
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence partners and stakeholders in a matrix business setting
• Strong presentation capabilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel internationally up to 20% of time
