POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for the transport logistics efficiency and freight strategies for the region. The person will drive the freight cost optimization and the best practices within the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, provide guidance and consultation to business to achieve the best decision on logistics and transports with regards of service, speed, agility and cost for both inbound and outbound processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drive efficiencies in transport and logistics
• Lead training, gap analysis and implementation of global transportation best practices across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region with continuous improvement
• Assume a regional expert role in transportation practices and legislation
• Manage freight cost for inbound transportation for APAC Hub and Region and lead budgeting process for APAC Hub (distribution centre) and region
• Develop & roll-out an agile and efficient last mile distribution strategy
• Optimize freight and logistics lead-times across the distribution network to improve speed, agility and cost
• Deploy and leverage a robust Transportation Management (TM) System
• Drive TM code of operating procedure (COP) and implement sustainable transformation in the business through process adoption, change management, continuous improvement and performance measurement
• Optimize and leverage on the annual Shared Ocean Services (SOS) global negotiations to drive and improve ocean freight cost and transit time
• Lead rate negotiations with air freight carriers and optimize service
• Manage business relationship with all Freight forwarding Suppliers including monthly business review, quarterly business review and annual business meetings
• Work closely with varied business leaders and supply chain stakeholders to ensure alignment with global strategies
• Establish accountability in key transportation processes by creating and providing visibility for key performance metrics, driving them to best practice levels across the region.
• Establish Hub and Affiliate freight scorecards
• Lead transportation projects within the Region and complete on time and in budget
• Transportation network project management, analysis and improvement through multi-model transportation solutions
• Optimize origin (door-to-port) and destination (port-to-door) logistics processes aiming to reduce origin and destinations handling lead time and cost
Qualifications
• Bachelor in Supply Chain Management or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain Management (Transport/ Freight) in a multi-national organization
• Experience on team management and stakeholder management
• Solid freight management knowledge and experience
• Excellent vendor management skills, experienced in the management of third party logistics (3PL)
• Strong distribution and logistics, commercial and financial exposure and understanding
• Excellent leadership, collaboration, communication, consultation and negotiation skills
• Demonstrated record of prioritizing, influencing and decision making at multiple levels in an organisation
• Team player, focused on total company delivery also thrives in a challenging and complex environment
• Strong analytical skills, advanced MS Excel and presentation skills - detail driven, able to analyse and manipulate large volumes of data to identify the salient elements
