GENERAL FUNCTION
The Sr. Marketing Director partners with the VP of Marketing to lead all brand functions and ensures that brand strategies are executed against the brand objectives. The Sr. Director leads all brand functional leaders and MSS teams. Develops the objectives, strategies and plans to deliver annual and long term goals; as well as develops, designs and gains approval for long term overall strategy. The Sr. Marketing Director uses all available resources to increase brand performance, understanding the relationship with the customer and managing the budget.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Has strategic leadership in brand decisions. Remains proactive in defining, proposing and energetically driving both strategic and tactical ways to steer business.
• Impacts decision making with recommendations based on solid marketing understanding and insightful analysis of research learnings.
• Constantly challenges data to ensure accurate results and solid conclusions.
• Guides the company and individual project owners in making research-based decisions on research objectives and expectations. Assists and challenges project owners in accurately interpreting data.
• Conducts long term trend analysis and year plan proposals.
• Represents the customer perspective in major decision-making processes.
• Thoroughly identifies with customer needs and wants.
• Studies customer behavior through internal data mining.
• Assesses and prioritizes information gaps and works with MSS to review.
• Acts as a key player in defining overall brand communication strategy.
• Works closely with agency, internal and global partners.
• Acts as PR leader for strategy definition and in traditional media strategy definition.
• Leads the process of marketing research by defining customer understanding gaps and setting objectives to the MSS and approves ensuing marketing research initiatives.
• Supervises, trains and evaluates Marketing and Brand Strategy.
• Coaches and develops direct report(s).
• Serves as mentor/coach to all members of brand team and shared services.
• Develops and manages brand budget.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 12+ years of experience in a related field
• 5+ years marketing team leadership
• Strong copy evaluation experience
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to think strategically and creatively
• Excellent “soft” leadership skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; persuasive
• Proven project management and multi-tasking skills
• Understanding of media planning principles
• Strong understanding of consumer research methodology and main types
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree
