Converse Brand Design, Designer I , North America
Description
As a Designer I supporting the Integrated Brand Design team in Converse North America Marketing, you’ll work in concert with the North America Integrated Brand Creative Director to develop the Brand design vision, direction and execution for the Converse Brand within the region. You will help explore, develop and drive the aesthetic and strategic presence of our Brand for applications within North America.
You'll work within team projects and work independently to complete the most technically challenging individual projects. In addition, you'll need to communicate and present design concepts to the Creative Director and other Brand Communication and Brand marketing managers and Directors, and create presentation materials that effectively communicate vision and goals.
Job responsibilities:
• Based on global and regional design direction, develop and produce innovative Brand positioning solutions at Retail, Events and various Digital Platforms.
• Create final production files and artwork for the implementation of projects. Work with vendors to ensure seamless execution of assets.
• Maintain and evolve a constant awareness of the Brand’s consumer targets, including differentiation by wholesale channel, and apply that knowledge to relevant design solutions.
• Research and share findings of trends in design, technology, materials and applications that keep our Brand in the lead as a creative, innovative and consumer relevant experience.
• Utilize exceptional design skills and demonstrate innovation in evolving concepts and designs.
• Communicate and present design thought and materials that effectively communicate creative concepts and a vision for how a project will progress from start to finish.
• Be engaged and receptive to a learning environment.
• Stay connected to other Brand Design, Communication and Marketing counterparts to maintain a working knowledge of Brand and regional priorities and market presence.
Consumer and Brand understanding and cultural expertise:
Understanding of our Brand’s consumers is of critical importance. “The Consumer decides” being Converse’s value #1, it goes without saying that success for this Designer I role inevitably goes through an intimate and thorough connection to the consumer space and its cultural arena. Deep knowledge of street and sport culture, and the related cultural atmosphere is imperative. A passion for the space of youth culture and its history is central to further defining the Brand Design presence for the Converse Brand.
Communication and teamwork:
• Must be comfortable working in a matrix organization. Partnership with cross-functional teams is the only path to success. The ability of inviting perspective and diverse points of view into the workflow is key to achieving results.
• Shares knowledge, experience and skill with other design staff. Works with Brand design counterparts to ensure continuity across segment and regional lines/areas of focus.
• Collaborates with the North America marketing team to bring brand relevant design solutions to life, while achieving overall marketing objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and 1–3+ years of professional design experience.
Proven ability to apply and perform design skills, including drawing/sketching, photography, typography, ideation, spacing, and scale, visual presentation development and layout that is supported by a portfolio of non-computer-based creative art and design.
Experience in preparing files for print production and motion graphics.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to trends influencing design in general.
Demonstrated high level of expertise using design and presentation software.
Strong oral and written communications skills is essential.
Ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives; work cooperatively with staff; share ideas and develop effective responses is critical.
Need proven ability to work in a rapidly changing, high-growth environment.
Must have the ability to manage multiple and competing work priorities, demands, and changes.
Promotes development of strong, collaborative working relationships with cross-functional teams and external resources.
Ability to motivate others, deal with ambiguity, and effectively collaborate in decision-making.
Should not be afraid to propose unconventional ideas and take creative risks.
