Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary focus of this position is to support the Executive Director, Digital in the creative development and implementation of global online and new media projects, with a focus on the APAC region, especially China and the Tmall eco-system.
The design director is responsible for the look-and-feel of all global M·A·C Cosmetics sites, online retailers, with a strong focus on the APAC regions and its specific social media channels. This person must be highly knowledgeable in understanding online consumer behavior (particularly for luxury brands), the nuances of online functionality, social platforms, marketing, emerging technology and trends and incorporate into designs.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Maintain visual and conceptual consistency with offline brand strategy for the brand and apply to all interactive and digital mediums.
• Conceptualize and design assets for all M·A·C Cosmetics web sites, mobile sites, retail partners, with a strong emphasis on TMall and its surrounding eco-system, Wechat, LINE, and all other APAC social media sites and bring together and execute all creative with a cohesive point of view and adhere to M·A·C’s global branding standard.
• Communicate design goals and messages to creative participants, ensuring integration of design requirements into all phases of production and execution.
• Oversee production process and manage designers for all global online assets.
• Develop or refine the design process to reflect technical requirements .
• Research and analyze industry trends and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and its creative applications.
• Communicate effectively the creative objectives of projects and partner with internal departments.
• Work closely with external creative teams and developers to manage creative execution and development of Online Projects.
• Ability to anticipate team workload and establish schedule/work flow to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• BA or BFA preferred
• 8+ Years of direct design and managing experience
• Thorough knowledge and experience in TMall and its surrounding ecosystem
• Deep knowledge of all APAC social platforms (i.e. LINE, Kakao, Wechat, Weibo)
• Fluency in Mandarin, Korean or Japanese preferred
• Thorough working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and experience in motion graphics a huge plus.
• Full understanding of HTML, CSS and Javascript
• Ability to work under pressure, in a very fast paced environment
• Deep understanding of current fashion/cultural/technological trends
• Drawing/Illustration/Typography skills are highly desirable
• Strong brand translation and superior organizational skills
