VP of Design, Basketball
Purpose
Know the Basketball consumer best
Develop and steer the holistic Design vision and strategy for the Creative Teams
Drive the business vertically
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a long term creative direction/vision/strategy together with the BU and the Creative Director for the respective BU aligned with the overall Creative Direction that can position adidas as the market leader for the respective BU.
• Develop and implement a creative strategy that will increase brand association and recognition through brand marketing assets, Teams, Athletes, go to market, and retail.
• Develop a long term innovation roadmap for the category together with AIT respectively Trend, BU, and the Advanced Team, and establish a plan for how to implement and transition products from advanced stages to inline.
• Proactively Develop design concepts for new innovation and concepts, optimizing the ratio of authentic and inspirational design
• Lead and steer the BU creative vision toward strategic objectives and the business targets supporting SBP
• Work collaboratively with other Heads of Design, Design Directors and Creative Direction to actively sharpen the adidas brand positioning overall on a seasonal basis and in the respective BU.
• Establish a close working relationship with the respective different Category heads in the Business Units, key markets, and functions.
• Lead and steer design milestone meetings in cooperation with the design planning and marketing planning & processes team
• Define adidas design standards for the design team which ensure the genetic code of the brand in every concept
• Contribute to the development of the overall BU marketing plan in cooperation with Product Management, Brand Management and CtC
• Develop and steer innovative and inspirational design concepts for the BU
• Oversee all design concepts and coach team to defined standards and processes (incl. coordination with BU teams and global operations)\
• Lead and steer design process optimization, to ensure state of the art workflow
Authorities:
• Staff most suitable persons in direct report positions as well as team members on lower levels
• Set personal objectives, guidelines and assess the team
• Develop functional and social skills of the team on and off the job
• Manage all reports as an integrated team by setting objectives, targets and guidelines to ensure smooth cooperation of all direct reports along all interfaces
• Identify and prepare talents in the BU Design department for career progression within the adidas organization
• Cost centre budget responsibility

Qualifications:
1. 10 years functional
2. 8 years leadership experience
3. Degree in Design or related field
4. Fluent in English
