Overview
Foot Locker, Inc., the world's leading retailer of athletically inspired shoes and apparel, is seeking a Director of Store Planning. The Director of Store Planning is responsible for managing the store planning process to successfully implement the capital development program for the Division(s). This individual will be responsible to manage an internal team as well as all external consultants in all aspects of architecture, operational standards and design.
Foot Locker, Inc. operates approximately 3,500 athletic retail stores in 21 countries in North America, Europe and Australia under the brand names Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, Footaction, and Champs Sports.
Responsibilities
• Manage staff and direct the Store Planning process to successfully implement the Capital Development Program in accordance with project -tracking report
• Manage staff and outside consultants to prepare all preliminary plans within 3 weeks of receipt of L.O.D.
• Manage the Construction Document process with outside Architectural and MEP consultants
• Provide analysis and recommendations on key store real estate initiatives that relate to store planning and construction
• Ability to coordinate MEP, and structural requirements during the design and construction process, resulting in smooth project completion
• Ability to review and approve architectural shop drawings, and ensure design intent is met and brand integrity is maintained
• Lead team to track and manage store specific development timelines and ensure all landlord local and state approvals are secured
• Lead team to manage permitting, landmark approvals, zoning codes alongside project development
• Oversee project development through entire process - provide construction administration alongside Construction Director
• Thorough review of construction estimates and construction documents / hold consultants accountable
• Deliver planning and design for High Profile Projects / Flagship stores on time and within budget
• Drive Landlord negotiations to deliver results in accordance with prototype design
• Support the department's Tranche Management of store capital
• Establish scope and pro-active cost controls for all projects
• Manage all project costs against approved CARs
• Manage Landlord Work vs. Tenant Work through accurate Lease review and negotiation with Landlords
• Manage White Box and Turnkey documents
• Manage all Change Order costs as a percent to total
• Collaborate globally with our International and Franchise Partners in support of the Global Development program
• Manage and Direct outside consultants
• Continually update and keep current the Store Planning and Design Policies and Procedure Manual, and enforce standards with direct reports
• Drive and Implement Value Engineering Ideas
• Liaison with Procurement and Marketing partners
• Develop documents and manage budgets and schedule of deliveries for store fixtures, visual components and signage
• Experience in Street Store / Off Mall / Flagship retail renovation projects is mandatory
• Experience in Ground Up retail renovation projects is a plus
• Team Building / Develop team members to become our future leaders
Qualifications
• Minimum 10 years of direct progressive experience in architecture and management with a retail company
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture mandatory or equivalent
• Effective oral and written communication and the ability to interact with senior level executives
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Proficient knowledge of Architectural Drawing details, construction Means and Methods, MEP drawings and Structural Engineering Drawings
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required
• Knowledge of Millwork and Store Fixture standards and details
• Deep knowledge and understanding of retail store construction and the industry
• Dedicated Leader
• Strong Interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage a team
• Ability to multi task through aggressive schedules in a very fast paced environment
• Strong background in driving schedules to deliver results
• PO approval
• Invoice / Change order evaluation approval and processing
• Demonstrate ability to proactively identify and escalate issues and process improvements
• Technical proficiency required to standardize fixture package - fixture detailing - and new fixture development
