The Director, Human Resources defines the luxury lifestyle shopping experience through building lasting relationships with our people, customers and partners by serving as a strategic business partner to the leadership team in the development and execution of talent plans for their business units.
This role identifies and recommends opportunities to strengthen business productivity and performance and is the first point contact for business leaders requiring Human Resources expertise.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Develop and lead complex cross-functional strategies to address and develop recommendations for major opportunities and issues in Human Resources. This includes:
◦ Demonstrating thought-leadership
◦ Ensuring solutions are based on strong analytics and insights
◦ Ensuring the path to move from strategy to execution is clearly laid out
◦ Presenting findings and recommendations in a compelling way at an executive level
• Provide proficient consultation in all areas of human resources such as performance and productivity, talent management and development, employee relations, employment law and compliance, and recruitment
• Collaborate with business leaders to develop and execute customized talent plans that will support the retention of key talent, ensure employee development and succession management, and improve employee engagement
• Provide counsel and leadership to business leaders and drive employee productivity and performance initiatives that align with company goals
• Develop, maintain, and implement effective employee relations strategies and ensures accurate interpretation of Human Resources policies and employment legislation
• Approve employee termination situations in compliance with HR policies and practices, provincial legislative and human rights requirements
• Oversee and manage employee complaints/infractions in relation to code of conduct, human rights, and employment legislation
• In partnership with HR partners develop and lead workshops that build people management and leadership skills
• Assist in the development and execution of change initiatives that align with company strategy
• Participant in Human Resources strategic planning
• Direct project/event/initiative implementations including the creation of critical paths, monitoring of progress, development of launch materials, communication and results tracking
• Manage conflicting priorities to deliver highest value initiatives that support key business objectives while respecting organizational capacity
• Effectively influence cross-functional teams for Human Resources, defining the operational skills, processes and environment required to meet Human Resources needs and achieve overall strategic goals
• Participate in the development of annual expense budgets and achieve all expense management targets
• Complies with all Health & Safety policies and requirements
• Lead, motivate, and retain a team of high performing employees that is capable of delivering results
The ideal candidate:
• Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of post-university work experience, including a minimum of 5+ years leading a business unit or enterprise-wide strategy
• Extensive experience in all aspects of Human Resources including employee relations, workforce planning, performance and productivity management, leadership development, and change management
• Able to develop and maintain highly effective relationships
• Strong business acumen and ability to identify current and anticipated business issues and provide solutions/recommendation
• Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills with the ability to get things done
• Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who is able to act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required
• Confident and effective communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Is adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change
• Passionate about fashion and luxury retailing
