Pre-Season Key Responsibilities:
• Drive the creation of unit buys at the sku level that reflect the merchandising assortment strategy to reach sales and inventory plan. Partner with Buying for alignment on buys and forecasts.
• Ensure key drivers and marketed styles are purchased with enough depth to maximize sales
• Discover and address opportunities in businesses and processes to improve the future. Be a self-starter in determining and managing tasks and stretch projects.
• Align with Analytics and Marketing teams to review key stories and how those will affect selling and buys
• Partner with planning and allocation at the time of buy to ensure the right quantity is placed for initial purchase and replenishments while reconciling with Monthly Forecast
• (In-season and Pre-Season) Collaborate in order to submit forecasts and orders to Buying and allocation
• (In-season and Pre-season) Analyze current trends and historical data to identify risks and opportunities at the department and sku level.
• Partner with Buying to communicate category and merchandising opportunity.
• Manage Promotional Calendar for current year vs. previous year to assess any risk or opportunity in the business
• Provide insight and recommendations on yearly budgeting for both top line revenue and GM$
In-Season Key Responsibilities:
• Insure alignment with AOP targets, proactively react to changes in trend
• Analyze style sales results and forecast re-order needs to maximize sales within Monthly Forecast guidelines
• Analyze and communicate current trends, best / worst sellers, and product needs to Buying weekly
• Manage all on order and receipt flow weekly / monthly. Partner with planning manager to ensure receipts and inventory levels meet OTB. Explain changes in on order at Monthly Forecast meeting.
• Identify assortment needs and communicate to merchandising
• Communicate markdown strategy (define price point to maximize margin) to the stores and partner with merchandising for final approval by style
• Partner with merchandising and allocation regarding movement of product between channels and transfers back to warehouse.
• Partner with marketing to communicate inventory level changes in marketing styles.
• Lead the cross functional team through execution of key planning processes
• Connect with E-Comm Ops team to monitor backlog and return rates at our DC to better estimate end of month revenue
• Calculate missed opportunity and future upside opportunities based on the current trends of the business
• Support manager in Business analysis and one off projects
Meeting Participation:
• Participate in weekly cross functional meetings to discuss current business and create action plans. Communicate departmental and style performance, forecast and action plans to management and cross functional team on a weekly basis.
• Own Monthly Forecast to articulate department performance, explain on order changes, inventory levels and other action plans to maximize business
• Attend sales meeting to kick off the buy season
• Participate in walk the walls meeting to ensure the right amount of inventory is purchased on styles that are emphasized online
Qualifications
• 2+ years experience in retail planning or buying + Bachelor’s degree
• Advanced proficiency Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint. BI experience is a plus
• Ability to negotiate with and influence peers, members of a cross-functional team and senior management.
• Ability to formally present business strategies and action plans
• Drive to address and formulate solutions to ambiguous problems or areas of opportunity.
• Possesses a clear understanding of financial measurements: sales, weeks of supply, inventory turn, sell thru, etc. and how to impact them.
