Rodale Inc. is looking for a dynamic, ambitious and highly creative director to lead the branded content studio for its portfolio of global health and wellness brands, including Men's Health, Women's Health, and Runner's World. In this role, the candidate will sit at the intersection of our sales and editorial divisions, ideating and executing sponsored content campaigns that delight our digital audiences and meet our clients' objectives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for digital storytelling across a range of formats, with demonstrated experience working directly with advertising partners across a broad range of categories to meet campaign KPIs.
Responsibilities:
• Act as central point of contact for edit, creative, product, marketing and sales in development and execution of custom content for advertisers, including but not limited to native advertising and sponsored content programs
• Collaborate with sales and marketing in brainstorming client-specific branded content program concepts, both pro-actively and in response to RFPs
• Determine and manage content program structure, content production budget, and deliverable timelines for all sponsored custom content campaigns
• Project-manage all aspects of content creation process, from concept development to final execution. Keep multiple concurrent projects on deadline and budget
• Oversee a team of internal and external editors, designers, and video producers in realizing the vision for each branded content campaign. Manage team’s deadlines and priorities for each stage of the program (proposal through campaign fulfillment)
• Act as top editor for all custom branded content, ensuring all copy adheres to the style and standards of the advertiser and/or the affiliated Rodale site
• Establish and continually refine pre-sale and post-sale work processes related to content ideation and execution, maximizing efficiencies and minimizing production expenditures. Ensure that sales, marketing, editorial and product adhere to approved processes
• Collaborate with marketing and editorial to ensure that custom content campaigns meet specific client objectives and maintain the voice and standards of the Rodale-branded website(s)
• Participate in client-facing creative discussions for current and upcoming custom content programs
• Keep up-to-date on industry trends and regulations in the sponsored content discipline, developing best practices and products for the network to keep Rodale competitive and forward-thinking in this space
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 10 years of editorial experience, with at least 5 in digital media
• Experience conceptualizing and executing on branded content programs for clients
• Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines at once
• Solid management background, with experience overseeing multiple teams in editorial, photo and design and fostering collaboration between cross-functional groups
• Strong instincts about what drives audience and engagement in the digital content space
• Familiarity with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Chartbeat and Facebook Insights
• Comfortable participating in client-facing discussions with sales and marketing
