Strategic Assortment Building
• Understand retail environment and needs and use this knowledge to impact the assortment.
• Build product strategy with executive team.
• Build seasonal assortment flow by product/delivery.
• Review and revamp product presentation meetings, including presentation format and presenters.
• Create process for color flow: timing of deliverables, flow plan and structure.
• Establish style/sku goals for each business.
• Lead assortment building and development process to stay in line with style/sku goals. Lead style/sku reviews with management.
• Review and manage merchandise plan creation and maintenance
Timeline
• Run all deliverables according to timeline. Keep all functional areas on track with deliverables according to timeline.
• Create master calendar to facilitate managing to timeline for all deliverables.
• Review timeline seasonally and adjust planned dates as needed. Lead calendar review with BP.
Development
• Lead in on-time development. Communicate clearly cross-functionally to achieve development according to the timeline.
• Resolve impediments to on time development with internal teams and sourced vendors.
• Identify and works with all areas to resolve development issues and roadblocks. Communicate outcome to manager.
• If issue cannot be resolved, communicate proposed action plan to manager.
• Initiate development updates and clarifications to all necessary team members and manager to complete development according to timeline.
• Fast track all development for approved off timeline initiatives.
• Expedite off process initiatives. - Work with BP to create timeline.
• Insure development runs according to timeline.
• Establish and publish merchandise plan, and sku chart.
• Create and expedite sample orders,
• Create IGP's and line lists.
• Work with design and all appropriate teams to insure cads and line lists match and correct represent the assortment.
• Track, understand and react to development and change status for all brands according to the timeline.
• Lead in resolving PLM issues and making it a useful aid in product execution.
• Lead weekly development meetings with all areas of the company.
• Lead in preparation and follow through for key meetings
• Lead dpk review process
Lead Team
• Lead and develop team to peak performance and meeting all deadlines.
• Work with sourcing and business planning teams to improve speed with market
• Develop skill set and expertise of team
• Coach team to greater process efficiency
Costing / IGP’s
• Create costing strategy.
• Establish IGP goals for all businesses
• Ensure that all new developments fall within targeted goals and never lower than previous yr.
• Constantly work to improve IGP by: Negotiate costs, work with design and product development to call out IGP issues. Start redevelopment process.
• Create and maintain seasonal IGP sheets, update forecasts, update costs, duty, freight, packaging etc.
• Run costing scenarios prior to development.
Workload Management
• Balance and re-prioritize responsibilities while still completing tasks on timeline.
• Incorporate rush, off timeline or off process initiatives into workload while maintaining all other projects according to timeline.
• Ability to work more than 40 hours a week as needed.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Ability to handle fast paced office environment while effectively completing all necessary functions accurately and on time.
Required Skills:
Effective project management and timeline skills. Effective communication/collaboration skills – experience in working on cross-functional basis with product development (internal and external), sourcing, sales and marketing. Retail experience at Senior Buyer or DM level for apparel or other SKU intensive/new product driven categories. Clear, focused, fact-based decision making. Process oriented. Experience in merchandising management for fashion-driven brand. Highly organized and strong general management/strategic skills. Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with InDesign a plus. Strong presentation skills.
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related field. 7+ Years Experience in Merchandising, in a leadership role.
