JOB PURPOSE
This position is a fixed-term maternity cover contract.
The Deputy Editor is responsible for editing copy and concepting engaging and creative stories across 10+ Burberry social platforms, the new Burberry App, Burberry.com, Burberry Beauty and UX copy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• The Deputy Editor will work closely with the creative media department, brand experience team, product and digital marketing leads and beauty teams to create compelling campaign narratives and storytelling.
• Reporting to and working with the Director of Brand Experience this person will ensure the most creative, consistent and engaging weekly content is showcased across each platform.
The role will be responsible for the following:
Social media:
• Review, edit and be accountable for all social media copy written by the social media writer – including planned content, large scale social innovations and reactive content.
• Work closely with the social media team and creative media department to tell compelling and fresh stories across social channels, challenging where necessary the editorial strength of both briefs and copy.
• Concept and maintain rich and consistent customer journeys across narrative driven social platforms – Facebook Messenger, Pinterest innovations, APAC platforms etc.
• React to Burberry and cultural events, working quickly and on some weekends and evenings to deliver content.
Beauty:
• Establish and guide the beauty TOV for each campaign, whilst exploring and protecting beauty language at senior level.
• Create, edit and be accountable for all Burberry own-channel beauty copy, managing beauty freelance writers and working closely with our licensing partners (COTY BEAUTY) to review all content created by them – ensuring consistency and correct TOV.
Burberry App:
• Lead the App tone of voice and editorial strategy, to ensure a rich and consistent customer journey across the platform.
• Create weekly editorial briefs for in-house writers, ensuring features are written, edited and delivered on time. Constantly delve within the Burberry brand, its heritage and cultural moments to create and commission relevant content for the App.
Burberry.com
• Edit all landing page copy and concept, review and create engaging, clear and innovative Burberry.com experiences, collaborating with digital designers and marketing teams to establish key stories.
PERSONAL PROFILE
• Extensive commercial writing experience and a solid knowledge of editing across multiple platforms – including social media channels such as Line, We Chat and Facebook Messenger bots
• The ability to manage a variety of projects and deadlines at once
• Able to switch seamlessly from developing the tone of voice for a new beauty campaign, commissioning articles for the Burberry App, to reviewing or concepting editorial content for a new product launch on Burberry.com
• Confident in presenting ideas and concepts to senior stakeholders
• A quick problem solver with the ability to work to tight deadlines
