Technical Apparel Designer: Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family
As an Associate Technical Apparel Designer at Vans, you will be responsible for executing the technical design process from Development to Final Fit Approval to create the perfect fit for our consumers. This role holds a great impact in maintaining the integrity of the Vans Brand while ensuring that products are developed in a manner consistent with established fits, quality standards, manufacturer capabilities and cost specifications for Vans Apparel. Your passion, experience, product knowledge and skills will support and leverage the company's continual quest to innovate and elevate.
How You Will Move the Needle:
You will prepare and measure incoming samples for fit sessions and meetings. You will coordinate, create and communicate daily Fit Schedules with Fit Models, Agencies, Technical Designers, Designers and Developers. Maintain, organize and track incoming and outgoing samples for the department. Interface with the Technical Design and Product Development Teams to ensure all deadlines are met. Adhere to Product Development Calendars, and Vans/VF SOPs to ensure timely completion of Fit Comments to VF Offices/Factories. Partner with the Technical Design Team during Fit Models selection process, measuring, and invoice management. When necessary, you will also, assist the Technical Design Team when developing and updating garment technical specifications; utilizing PLM, block patterns, and Market Samples.

Educational/Position Requirements:
• College/Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion/Apparel (emphasis in apparel production, pattern making and fit).
• Basic knowledge of garment measurement process, fitting (on ‘live’ models and fit forms), construction and patternmaking.
• Attention to detail, accurate and articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Comfortable working in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.
• Accountable to follow through on a task from beginning to end.
• Proactive, self-motivated, problem solving and results oriented with a strong sense of urgency. Knowledge of and adhere to Product Development Calendar.
• Proficiency in computer skills including: Microsoft Office, Outlook (or, equivalent), Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM (or, equivalent); able to operate Digital Camera.
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
• Willing and able to work additional hours when needed.
• Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items varying in weight from 1 to 25lbs,
depending on need.
