SUMMARY
Designer for Wovens category for Original Penguin. Responsible for the execution of the entire process and administration of product lines .
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage design process for a given season, by building strong, balanced assortments that include core and fashion items as it pertains to multiple product categories.
Responsible for executing entire product design process to include market research, mood boards, developing color palettes, designing, and fittings.
Create designs within the agreed-upon market trends and that support merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.
Responsible for staying within the Time and Action Calendar.
Communicate effectively with overseas offices and vendors to ensure product execution according to design intent.
Responsible for design presentations to Sales Force, Merchandising and Customers.
Monitors lab-dips, knit-downs, strike –offs and handloom approvals.
Direct the development of prints, trims, sweaters and embroideries. Ensure product design package is complete, accurate and handed off to product development team, tech department and vendors on time for prototypes and salesmen samples. Selects, trains, motivates and evaluates direct reports. Encourages proper growth within the company and developing of subordinates. Responsible for designing multiple sku plans for different brands with distinctly unique product assortments, four times per year. Domestic travel for design inspiration as well as for sales presentations with accounts buyers and trade shows. Leads technical design fittings, clearly defines go-forward directives and ensures that updates are executed SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Strong computer knowledge.
Ability to learn how to design through new/advanced technology. (illustrator, Photoshop, U4RIA, PDM)
In-depth knowledge of design techniques and processes across multiple categories.
Strong listening skills and ability to interpret product feedback.
Proven time management and organizational skills .
Proven excellent presentation skills.
Superior Taste level.
Strong color sense.
Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, colorways, sewing techniques, graphics and trims.
Ability to think three-dimensionally and to visualize from swatch to body.
Knowledge and good understanding of merchandising as it relates to sales and store environment.
Ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas/new concepts; ability to conceptually visualize and build a line .
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
College degree in Fashion Design or related field.
Five years design experience.
