Director – Retail Finance (Vans):Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family
Vans is more than just any ordinary action sports footwear company. As the Director of Retail Finance, you are responsible for the retail finance team and for providing financial data to help drive DTC business in 3 countries, US/ CAN / Mexico. You will analyze business reports, identify trends, and report on findings and recommendations to business units within retail and corporate. You will work closely with the DTC team to create a five-year financial plan that supports the brand’s retail growth strategy. You will oversee the production of the annual retail budget at the beginning of the fiscal year and the related forecast updates during the year. You will manage the monthly sales and labor forecasting process for retail channel. Additionally, you will manage the brand’s real estate forecast and retail capital budget.
How You Will Move the Needle:
Develop and direct analysis and reports for all areas impacting the retail channel including: Sales, Inventory, Labor, Loss Prevention, Real Estate, Capital, Operations, etc., Lead the creation of the five-year financial plan, annual operating budget and the related forecast updates for the retail channel during the year. Develop monthly labor and sales plan for DTC fleet. Evaluate and Interpret historical performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for department leaders, VP of Retail and corporate partners. Direct preparation of monthly reporting package and approve final edits for the VP of Retail, CFO and Corporate Management. Direct operational improvement plans with Manager of Sales Audit & Inventory Control and Director of Store Operations to maximize efficiencies and profitability of business unit. Develop and direct methodologies to manage lease administration, lease accounting and capital expenditures making appropriate recommendations to the VP of Retail and the VP of Real Estate & Construction on strategic property asset management. Coordinate with Divisional Merchandise Manager & Senior Retail Planning Manager on merchandise plan and inventory management to insure productivity and fiscal responsibility. Monitor, approve and insuring accurate coding of all retail expenses. Coordinates store approval process including preparation and tracking. Coordinate with Corporate Finance Team on all reports and analysis and adhere to corporate reporting deadlines as well as Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance issues, recommending appropriate system and process improvements. Direct and develop a team of 5 individuals.
Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 10+ years in a financial or analytical role
Educational/ Position Requirements:
• MBA a plus.
• Retail experience in a multi-store environment
Skills:
• Strong analytical and leadership capabilities
• Thought leadership and strategic thinking a must
• Ability to summarize data and communicate effectively
• Excellent Excel skills
• Strong understanding of financial statements and US GAAP
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
• Willing and able to work additional hours when needed
• Minimal travel required
