Director of Sales adidas Golf
Purpose:
• This position is responsible for the sales management, profitability, marketing, merchandising & operations strategies for adidas Golf independent sales channels – Green Grass, Off Course and franchise Sporting Goods. This position will lead the charge to drive profitable sell through of adidas Golf products by guiding in-field sales team and internal associates in delivering consumer-right product, compelling marketing support and proactively managing business metrics.
Key Accountabilities:
• Have full ownership and accountability for the Green Grass, Independent Off Course and franchise Sporting Goods P&L statements
• Develop and execute annual sales and profitability targets by channel
• Provide consistent coaching to Sales Team in the areas of account planning, selling skills, presentations and on-going understanding and management of business metrics required to be a truly professional sales organization
• Drive business partnership with key buying groups – BPG, Clublink, Golf BC, Fairmont, Golf North, Kaneff, etc.
• Work with General Manager, Finance, and Sales & Operations Manager to negotiate annual Terms and Conditions with all appropriate accounts to ensure future sales while optimizing profitability. Monitor and drive adherence to all sales targets and trade investments with said accounts
• Work cross-functionally with all key stakeholders to drive quality, profitable sell through and maintaining premium brand stature
• Partner with Product and Marketing Teams to build compelling product and marketing stories to win the consumer. Due to complexity of these channels, developing a consistent, streamlined, easy to execute sell in & sell through strategy will be critical
• Take lead in developing 3-year adidas Golf Strategic Business Plan by channel with an end goal of becoming a market share leader
• With Product and Marketing Teams, develop a leadership position around Brand Shops and retail execution to drive sell through and enhance brand experience
• Provide monthly reporting and analysis of sales front-log, monthly & full year sales forecasts including position, exposure with respect to bulk orders, potential cancellations & markdown allowances
• Work closely with Customer Service Team to ensure maintenance of our competitive advantage as industry service leader
• Accountable for all sales related overhead budgets within these channels including T&E, account marketing budgets, sales rep seeding budgets, etc
• Other duties as assigned by the General Manager
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
• Exceptional and engaging leadership and management skills, that quickly builds both retailer and internal confidence in adidas Golf direction
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Strong communication skills with customers, direct reports and, more importantly, with all key stakeholders with whom they have influence
• Business experience and confidence to engage with Senior Management team at Global
• Comfortable & confident in dealing with all levels within an account from President/Owner to Buyer to Sales Associates
• Strong golf industry knowledge with a proven finesse and experience for negotiating in a “ win – win “ environment
• Expert understanding of Canadian golf market - consumers, retailers, economic environment and commercial landscape
• Strategic thinking - ability to develop and consider wide variety of options before implementing strategic decisions.
• Ability to lead, coach, teach, motivate and develop the sales/marketing and business management talents of the sales team
Qualifications(Minimum required education and experience):
• University degree or equivalent education and experience required
• 10+ years related job experience
• Proven ability to lead, influence and think strategically
