Executive Director, GIS Operations & Strategy
Description
The Chief of Staff (COS) position is primarily responsible for coordinating staff and resources across the Global Information Systems (GIS) organization and managing the strategic planning and successful execution of IT strategy. The COS reports to the Co-CIOs. The COS helps manage the day to day operations of GIS such as a program managing strategic initiatives and collaborating with global support functions to orchestrate transformational initiatives. They support stakeholder engagement by leading and collaborating with global communications to prepare key presentations.
A key function of the COS is to act as an orchestrator for the Co-CIOs and contributes significantly to the IT Strategic planning. The role facilitates the alignment of the IT strategic plan and budget to overall business objectives and priorities. A key deliverable is the annual strategic book and presentation to brand, region and functional leadership.
•Collaborates with GIS brand, region and function leadership to lead the development of IT strategy process including Roadmap development, resource allocation and priorities.
•Analyzes key internal and external inputs to develop the IT strategic plan ensuring alignment with the overall enterprise strategy
•Oversees transformational initiatives, projects and commitments directly involving the Co-CIOs including understanding alignment issues among stakeholders and driving to resolution.
•Leads the cause for efficient and effective use of leadership time including planning and leading effective Co-CIO staff meetings, extended leadership meetings, managing town halls and leadership off-sites.
•Prepares and occasionally facilitates key Co-CIO meetings. COS is accountable for ensuring that meeting objectives are realistic, staff preparation is appropriate and the Co-CIOs are well prepared.
•Facilitates effective relationships throughout GIS, and internal as well as external stakeholders’ organizations, including managing and supporting strategic engagement, onboarding and orienting new leadership, and supporting regular communications.
•In partnership with Corporate Communications, develops draft communications on behalf of Co-CIO and / or research in support of communications. Communications range from Co-CIOS update for ELT and Board meetings; to follow up correspondence related to Co-CIOS’s meetings with vendors, partners, and staff; to speaking engagements involving external audiences. In addition to drafting key communications, the COS also accurately reflects the Co-CIO’s position in internal meetings and communications to promulgate general understanding of Co-CIO’s views.
•Identifies proactively issues potentially impacting successful execution of Co-CIOS’s commitments, and frame, position, and escalate them for effective resolution.
•Provides strategic advice to Co-CIOS to continuously improve daily management
•Prepares and submit reports, including service reporting, to Co-CIOS and team (e.g. Monthly Executive Deck and Operational Review)
•Works with Finance on plan, actual, forecast, and variance, as well adoption of services-based financial reporting
Qualifications
•Demonstrated strong leadership, performer, and people manager history, with highly regarded leadership, coaching, and people management skills
•Possess exceptional interpersonal skills, written, presentation, and verbal communication skills that can be applied across organizational levels, Brands, Regions, and cultures, and ability to multitask
•Expert in IT strategic planning, communications and financial management with a proven track record of successful IT strategy development and execution.
•Possess exceptionally well developed analytical skills, discern patterns, think quickly, and make well-informed decisions
•Must be a self-starter, taking the initiative to anticipate, thrive in ambiguity and effectively manage upward and across levels.
•Possess well developed program, project, and enterprise risk management skills
•Proven strong systemic thinker with substantial experience leading global transformation initiatives
•Be strong-willed, a fast learner, and able to effect changes quickly
•Possess unquestionable integrity, including capability to be extraordinarily discreet and judicious
•Minimum Education level: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related filed. Master's degree in business highly preferred
