External Job Description
The Senior Designer will be responsible for bringing the vision of the brand to life through innovative, trend-right product designs in their assigned category. The Senior Designer will collaborate with other designers and cross functional team members including merchants, product management, sourcing, technical design, concept and CAD to curate the collection. The Senior Designer must have the ability to forge strong partnerships, maintain a strong point of view and influence decisions for the best product assortment each season while adhering to the pipeline T&A.
Responsibilities:
• Leads the assigned department by proposing brand right designs that offer newness and identifies and drives new business opportunities.
• Presents seasonal concepts, style direction, fabric, design detail seasonally and adapt it appropriately to the individual categories of business.
• Designs and curates within the pipeline calendar to develop on time seasonal product.
• Manages and mentor’s design team and peers.
• Continually researches trend, shops the competition, travels for inspiration and partners w Concept and CAD teams to ensure alignment on the direction each season.
• Travels O/S to AGS offices, factories/vendor’s for development and execution of programs.
• Collaborates with cross functional teams including Concept, CAD, Product Management, Sourcing, Merchandising, and Technical Design on all product development.
• Sr. Designers are key partners in the conceptual process and is responsible for ensuring the brand vision in assigned in their assigned area(s) of business.
• Partner and align with merchants on line plan objectives and strategy.
• Manages, trains and develops direct reports.
• Creates an environment that that provides direction and promotes continuous learning and development – allowing direct reports to grow and collaborating w peers and leadership.
• Nurture talent from within and provide appropriate coaching, feedback and support to foster improved performance and individual growth.
• Support and participate in the onboarding process of new associates
Requirements
Education:
• BA or BFA specializing in Fashion Design.
Experience:
• 7+ years minimum industry related experience.
Skills:
• Strong organizational skills, adaptability and flexibility.
• Team oriented, self-motivated, able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Expert user in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM- Tradestone, Word and Outlook.
• Thinks creatively, possesses the ability to identify new business opportunities and makes recommendations as appropriate.
• Strong execution skills
• Ability to interact with merchant business partners in a strategic way
• Strong collaboration skills with cross functional partners.
