General Summary:
Manage direct buying responsibility (based on vendors or classifications) and accountability for sales, margin and inventory performance for their product division. The ideal candidate must have great attention to detail. The Buyer will also need to negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive prices in order to deliver value to our customers through high-quality products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Vendor relations to include selection, negotiation, communication, and partnership development
• Developing merchandise assortments by category and continually evaluate, analyze, and adjust these assortments
• Pricing and markdown management
• Analyze, forecast, and interpret market and consumer trends
• Executes vendor selection and develops vendor partnerships
• Monitors industry trends, evaluates competition, and attends major trade shows
• Manages the timely placement and maintenance of purchase orders
• Prepares reports and information to support merchandising strategies, and reviews with team
• Monitors inventory productivity, and analysis of vendor profitability
Required Skills and Competencies:
• 2+ years of Buyer experience
• Minimum 2 year degree; 4 year bachelor degree a plus
• 1+ years supervisory type experience
• Expert reporting experience and financial analysis skills
• Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
• Excelllent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) with high level of details and accuracy
• Effective negotiating skills
• Strong retail math skills
