JOB PURPOSE
To have the vision, ambition and future ability to effectively lead, motivate and engage a team of skilled production operators to produce high quality garments within the agreed production schedule and to effectively deputise for the team leader.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the team meetings and assist the Team Leader to motivate and inspire the team to improve output and quality
• Support the Team Leader in addressing poor performance and behaviour by proving coaching and training
• Inspire focus within the team to produce quality excellence
• Allocate work, monitor and record daily progress to ensure (hourly/ daily) shift workload targets are achieved in absence of the Team Leader
• Drive performance and growth, through excellent technical skills and garment knowledge
• Define, create and develop solutions to identify the root cause to problems to avoid future occurrences
• Support the Team Leader to identify to identify future training needs and ensure training/coaching is carried out to maintain operational efficiencies
• Lead with presence on the frontline, as a brand ambassador and a role model for Burberry values and behaviours
• Escalate performance issues (efficiency, speed, accuracy, quality, attendance, attitude and behaviour) of operators to the Team Leader
• Monitor, coach and provide feedback to the team on production and quality targets to achieve operational excellence in the absence of the Team Leader
• Support the Team Leader to effectively monitor and improve quality standards
• Ensure the company health and safety policy is followed by all operators and protect the brand by educating operators of risks and responsibilities
• Escalate operational issues to the Team Leaders or person accountable in absence of the Team Leader
• Adhere to H&S policy and procedures, take appropriate action to escalate when required
• Support the Team Leader to embed a team culture to create engagement
• Support a high standard of communication through team briefing, consultation, employee reviews and one to one performance conversations in absence of the Team Leader
PERSONAL PROFILE
• Experience of working in a similar role is preferred
• Strong knowledge of garment construction and sewing experience
• Strong awareness of luxury garments and high quality standards
• Strong communication and people skills
• Proactive approach to tasks working in a fast-paced environment
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to problem solve
• Good level of education in literacy and numeracy
• NVQ Level 2 in garment manufacturing or equivalent is desirable
