SUMMARY:
The requirement of this position is to manage the designs created by each Perry Ellis licensee. It is best to have a knowledge of menswear/womenswear apparel and accessories for the domestic and international market.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for entire product design process to include market research, inspiration boards, designing, sketching, specing and fit.
• Responsible for researching global markets in order to identify new trends, fabrics, techniques, etc.
• Actively participates in the conceptual development of product lines (i.e., sells ideas/concepts and convinces others to adopt a course of action).
• Provides recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, new concepts, etc.
• Provides insight regarding style and fit of product during presentations.
• Ensures that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy.
• Conducts fit sessions; responsible for final approval for sample fit.
• Works collaboratively with product coordinators, sourcing, tech department, and merchandising to bring vision to commercially viable product decisions.
• Responsible for staying within the Time and Action Calendar.
• Responsible for design presentations to Sales Force, Merchandising and Customers.
• Responsible for lab-dips, strike offs and handloom approvals.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
• Powerpoint, Illustrator, sketching, working knowledge of men's/women's apparel and accessories.
• Prefer someone that has been in a licensing design position before and can manage multiple product categories at one time.
• Understands how to design for a heritage brand with a strong P.O.V.
• Strong visual/creative skills and understands how to develop seasonal trend books that set the tone for the entire brand
• Ability to design around concepts with strong sense of style, color, print, and pattern.
• Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color ways, sewing techniques, graphics, embroidery and trim.
• Strong organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills
• Degree in Fashion Design
