Description
The Director supports the North America leadership team and the VP of Strategy on the understanding of North America market size, trends (e.g.; consumer, competition, retailer / distribution, technological) and opportunities; the understanding of internal performance; the design, update, communication and monitoring of the North America strategy (across all brands in the ELC portfolio); and the execution of key strategic initiatives.
She/he leads the development of specific sections of the North America Strategy document; specific market updates; supports the development of the Merchandise Financial Planning Process (as a subject matter expert); and the development of strategies at specific retailers
She / he project manages and monitors the execution of specific aspects of the North America Strategy (as well as the regional implementation of critical global projects).
She / he works on specific, high impact brand projects and cross-branded initiatives.
She / he provides analytical support and thought leadership to Brand teams, functional teams and the NA leadership team (as needed)
She/he is able to manage multiple different topics in parallel, effectively prioritize work and coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
Development and update of North America Strategy
•Support the region in:
oUnderstanding market trends in US and Canada (across consumer, competition, retailer performance, channel & distribution shifts, technology…)
oSizing the market
oEvaluating company performance (by brand / category / channel / account / geography / consumer demographics) – in absolute and relative to market
oAnalyzing portfolio, distribution and Business Development opportunities across all brands
oIdentifying, prioritizing and sizing key opportunities for North America
•Support the development of Region’s 3-year strategy in conjunction with brands, functions and the North America Strategy group
oLeads specific sections of the strategy development and presentation
oCoordinates with brands, functions, Corporate Strategy and Business Development as appropriate
oEnsures proper communication, understanding and alignment on the Strategy across stakeholders
•Supports the development of specific local market updates (e.g.; Texas)
•Supports the development of the Merchandise Financial Planning Process (as a subject matter expert)
•Supports the development of strategies at specific retailers
Monitoring of the execution of the North America strategy
•Identifies key projects, initiatives and KPIs
•Supports the set up and management of a PMO of key cross-brand / cross-functional projects in North America (as well as the regional implementation of critical global projects)
•Tracks and supports the reporting of Regional Performance in the US; highlights issues and suggests solutions
Project management / analytical support on specific projects
•Project manages specific, high impact projects (for single or multiple brands) – as identified by region’s leadership
•Provides analytical support and thought partnership to key brands and functions
•Provides analytical support to the NA leadership team (as needed)
•Demonstrates good project management and collaboration skills

Qualifications
•BSc in related field; MBA preferred
•Min 6-8 years of experience in a Consulting, Private Equity, Banking, or Consumer / Retail role
•Understanding of the Consumer / Retail industry and requirements
•Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills (expertise in Excel, and ideally in more advanced tools)
•Strong problem solving skills; ability to quickly ramp up on multiple topics
•Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into meaningful conclusions / recommendations; good business judgment
•Strong planning and Project management capabilities (across multiple stakeholders
•Ability to work independently and with teams; pro-activeness in identifying challenges and finding solutions
•Good communication and presentation skills (verbal, written and visual). Ability to convey messages clearly and concisely
•Ability to manage / interact effectively with multiple stakeholders
•Proficiency in all Microsoft applications (esp. Excel, PPT, Word)
