Within the wider global organisation, the UK Region is recognised as a critical market, and is the largest market outside of North America. Within the UK, the UK Beauty industry is undergoing significant evolution. Alongside this the objectives of the Estee Lauder Companies UK & Ireland Finance team is also evolving at a fast pace to support the wider business in achieving key strategic priorities: continuing to grow market share in both Total and Prestige Beauty, and maintaining sustainable, profitable growth.
The newly created role of Finance Director, based in One Fitzroy Place will play a key role in achieving this aim, supporting the business to deliver strategic and operational financial KPIs both short and long term. Reporting to the VP Finance for the Region, the role will be responsible for the financial overview of the Region, and working with key areas of the business to shape and deliver major initiatives to directly realise value. The role will act as deputy to the VP Finance.
The role requires an individual who can motivate and challenge the organisation and key business partners, and one who can also clearly demonstrate how finance adds value to the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy & Planning
• Contribute to shaping the strategic direction of Region: evaluate financial impact of strategic choices and suggest alternatives
• Understand market positioning of ELC in key categories and sub categories: develop plans to increase market share at granular level
• Ensure the annual Plan delivers on the Strategy and Long Range Plan: work across the business to influence and align brand and corporate functions
• Work with wider Finance team and Business to manage the annual Plan process
Business Intelligence and Analytics
• Lead Centre of Excellence for market and retail analytics
• Provide insight to wider business through effective interpretation of market and company data – connecting the dots across the organisation
Business Partnering
• Work with Brand GMs and Functional leads to provide business and commercial support: interpret financial impact of Pricing, Consumer engagement, CRM, Advertising Effectiveness
• Commentary and analysis of macro and business trends
• Key Finance liaison point between New York team and Region
• Work with the wider Finance team and business to develop business partnering and commercial decision making skills
Leadership & Line Management Responsibilities
• Visible and inspirational leadership to team – lead by example
• Facilitate the successful development of all team members – identify strengths and build on these. Address areas of improvement
• Direct line management and development of key direct reports
• Resource and talent planning of all areas within remit, and contribute towards wider finance function resource and talent management
• Key member of FLT (Finance Leadership Team)
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate will bring emotional intelligence, drive, team spirit and a collaborative approach required to support the business at a key time in its evolution. The successful candidate will also have a ‘hands on 'approach, coupled with a strong blend of both commercial and technical experience.
You will have;
• Extensive post qualified experience is required
• Strong academic background
• CIMA / Chartered Accountant
• Previous large listed company experience
• Beauty Industry/FMCG experience desirable
• MBA level
• International experience desirable
• Flexible to travel to Southampton
