Footwear Designer Virtualization 3D:Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family
The Advanced Concepts and Visualization Designer will be responsible for generating forward thinking footwear concepts as well high quality visual representations of 3D assets. This role will be responsible for collaborating with Design and Development in various categories to design and visualize future concepts.
How You Will Move the Needle:
• Generate innovative and advanced footwear concepts based on new technology developments
• Collaborate with 3D modelers to generate high quality visuals/presentations from 3D assets for various departments
• Assist product teams in various categories with incorporating 3D tools in their design process
• Research new technologies, materials and applications to share with the product teams
Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 4+ 3D Design Experience
Educational/ Position Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or equivalent education from a in the Industrial Design discipline, Computer Science and/or Mechanical Engineering or related experience at a technical school focused on digital arts
• Required texturing/rendering software experience: (i.e. Modo/Colorway, Vred, Keyshot)
• Preferred software experience: Zbrush, Rhino, 3D Studio Max, Maya,Solidworks, Alias, Delcam Shoemaker, RomansCAD, RTT
• High level of Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere or similar programs
• Proficient with business computer software (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Apple Keynote)
• Experience in research and analysis and design cycles
• Experience in developing advanced concepts
• Experience working in Augmented Reality and/or Virtual Reality
Skills
• Must be capable of working within a team environment
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other design, development and merchandise staff, employees and the public
• Ability to work independently with limited direction
• Ability to manage multiple projects during the product creation cycle
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret product design briefs
• Professional presentation skills
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
• May have to work with hazardous materials (Designer should take precautions when using these materials to eliminate any health risks)
• Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items varying in weight from 1 to 60lbs, depending on need
• Periodic travel required (approx. 10-20%), including air travel
