Associate Ecommerce Operations Engineer
eCommerce Operations Analysts are responsible for maintaining the health, availability, and performance of all URBN’s ecommerce systems and environments. They are expected to own, remediate, and prevent issues related to the eCommerce platforms such as application build systems, testing and production environments, database systems, virtualization, and other platforms. Analysts will work reported issues end to end, while providing regular updates to the business.
In addition, Analysts are expected to determine innovative and effective methods to monitor all systems. Using available tools, Analysts will develop reporting and correlated data to be effectively alerted in a proactive manner to any impending issues. Building exceptional monitoring processes coupled with overall system maintenance will be critical to this role.
Analysts will also be tasked with deploying new technologies or building onto existing systems under the mentorship of senior analysts. They will utilize critical thinking and organizational skills to solve complex problems. Capturing work in technical documentation describing topology and workflows will be required.
Finally, excellent communication skills are required as the eCommerce Operations Analysts will also be responsible for conveying work plans, formulating root cause analysis, and providing regular updates regarding open issues.
• First Response for generated alerts from our internal and external monitoring systems. Including initial diagnosis, in-depth troubleshooting, and resolution.
• Escalating issues to appropriate team members and channels per documented procedures.
• Building and updating of root cause analysis reports.
• Assisting Senior Operations Analysts during critical production impacting issues.
• Planning and implementing infrastructure build-outs including additional capacity of current platforms and new systems to support features or platforms.
• Create and validate monitors in our internal and external monitoring platforms with the goals of gauging customer experience and accurately determining system service health.
• Be involved in the change management process and provide service verification data during scheduled windows of change.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
• 2+ years of relevant college experience.
Preferred Skills
• Proficient in monitoring technologies and platforms.
• Familiarity of database technologies.
• Familiarity with HTTP protocol.
• Familiarity of basic network topology.
• Experience deploying and administering virtualization technologies.
• The ability to read code and scripting languages such as Python and Bash Shell.
• Excellent understanding and administration of Linux-based operating systems.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with strong appreciation of web technologies and the enthusiasm to learn quickly.
