Overview
The Digital Tech should be someone who is organized, possesses strong time management skills, and should be extremely interested in computers/software workflows with a strong interest in photography. The Digital Tech Assistant works with the photographer and stylists during on-model shoots to ensure proper capture and labeling of incoming images. The digital tech is also responsible for proper image preparation for the web and passing the final images to the web team. The techs are responsible for preparing all images shot in studio for post-production and work with the Digital Asset Manager to maintain the Anthro web studio’s image archive. On down time, techs will be called upon to assist the retouching team (proficiency with Adobe Photoshop is strongly preferred), are responsible for software updates, researching new hardware/software workflow combinations, and monthly monitor calibrations of all image-capturing computers. Techs will also serve as a photo assistant on set.
Responsibilities
• Ensure proper functioning of lighting equipment, cameras, and computers.
• Process all images from all shoot days and deliver to retouching team
• Ensure proper labeling, exposure, style, and accurate color for clothing in images
• Properly organize and backup all images
• Handle any requests for images files from other teams
• Manage hard drive space on computers and external drives
• Create and update lighting diagrams for each apparel category
• Prepare and deliver PDF’s of images
• Research and develop new digital work flows
• Setup studio lighting for different apparel categories
• Troubleshoot any problems with cameras, lighting equipment, and computers. Handle any repairs if necessary
• Color calibrate all computer monitors to insure proper image representation
• Work with sample coordinators, visual merchandisers, and stylists to insure the images are delivered to the web to team by its deadline
• Shoot any external photo requests
• Keep track of studio inventory. Re-order supplies as needed.
• Follow industry trends and update software/equipment/workfolow
Qualifications
• Knowledgeable of digital photography workflow
• Hands-on experience of the Canon EOS system
• Experience with Pro Photo equipment
• Retouching/Photoshop proficiency strongly preferred
• Mac OS X proficiency
• Hands-on experience Capture One Pro strongly preferred
• RAW processing proficiency
• Basic photography studio experience
• General web image knowledge, such as web standards and color spaces
• Extremely organized with strong time management skills
• Minor IT and troubleshooting skills
• Minor catalog prepress experience is a plus
Education
BFA in Photography or Related Field.
