Senior Designer, NA Visual Merchandising, Clinique
Overview: This position is responsible for the development and overseeing of final execution for visual merchandising in-store production artwork in North America, specializing in new and emerging business within Specialty-Multi Channel. The candidate will report directly to the SDVM team, but partner with cross functional creative teams to apply approved concept directions to the mechanical layouts of various in-store elements to support SDVM initiatives for seasonal updates, new product launches, and other promotional collateral. This position will work with the production team to oversee the final checkpoint in the creative process, and the ideal candidate will be efficient, resourceful with a keen eye for the smallest detail to ensure that brand standards are maintained.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Apply approved concept to the design and final execution of in-store artwork for assigned programs; executing multiple variants of each program including language variants. Collaborate with relevant cross-functional partners to seek direction and approvals prior to artwork release.
• Ensure brand design standards are upheld, style guide is adhered to and approved assets are being used.
• Ability to solve layout challenges creatively while maintaining integrity of approved design direction.
• Support in-store VM team and Art Directors in concept development where needed.
• Awareness of Specialty-Multi distribution and overall broad knowledge of fixture construction and in-store execution, understanding of dielines, type-safeties, lives and trim. Communicate with Visual Merchandising/Store Design teams to provide clarity of construction/artwork visibility where needed.
• Collaborate with Creative Operations team to coordinate scheduling of multiple projects to ensure on-time artwork releases.
• Collaborate with Creative Operations and Creative teams to oversee post-production process; proofing artwork, providing color direction to vendors, executing post-production revisions.
• Submitting retouching requests through image archiving software, coordinating with Creative Operations on budget, timeline, and final proofing.
• Utilize product assortment provided by marketing teams to layout artwork in intended order by colour and productivity. Build collaborative relationships with marketing partners to seek clarity where needed.
• Participate in weekly cross-functional department status meetings and coordinate on a daily basis with other members of the Creative and Creative Operations teams as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• BA/BS/BFA degree in Graphic Design or Communications Design.
• Software Requirements: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel. Ability to mock up/render in Photoshop.
• 4-5 years of experience in luxury beauty experience required, experience in Sephora and Specialty-Multi Distribution preferred.
• Strong design background including typography, layout, mechanical production, and visual merchandising.
• Career track record that shows the candidate has a strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and to meet deadlines.
• The ideal candidate is a master graphic technician: concerned with resolutions, color and size accuracies, production values, and must know the difference between CMYK and RBG, spot color and process, a vector or a raster, etc.
• Excellent organizational skills, quality execution and attention to detail.
• Strong self-starter, highly resourceful and promising leadership skills.
• Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
• Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent problem solving skills and ability to identify efficient paths to meet goals and improve processes.
