Senior Manager, Brand Communications – Product, Gap Brand
The Senior Manager, Brand Communications – Product, works with the Brand Communications team to tell the Gap story internally. This role is responsible for increasing employee awareness, understanding and buy-in of strategic initiatives and long-term direction. In partnership with the Director of Brand Communications, this role ensures that every employee understands our product message for a given season – from executives to Sales Associates – so that we articulate our value proposition and competitive advantage with every customer interaction.
In addition to other, more general responsibilities, this role will create communications strategies and content in a variety of media to engage and inspire employees about our Brand Vision, Product Aesthetic, product-to-market process, seasonal product and trend knowledge, and product operations. They will be responsible for working across various business functions in multiple regions to tell one cohesive story. This will include writing presentation materials for GLT members and preparing them to speak at large meetings and events.
This role will develop and execute a communications strategy for the Product team and manage the communications needs of the SVPs of Merchandising, Design and Product Operations. The person in this role is responsible for cultivating a product-obsessed culture at Gap – in our stores and HQ – with the ultimate goal of driving sales.
The person in this role should be passionate about communications and look for new and innovative ways to engage to a global audience.
In addition to the core responsibilities, this role will also support general Brand Communications initiatives and projects, including organizational announcements, conference and event content, campus-specific communications and other ad hoc requests.
The Senior Manager, Brand Communications – Product, needs to work closely and collaboratively with the Brand Communications team in New York and the regional communications teams around the world to deliver a seamless and consistent communications strategy across locations and channels.
·10-15 years proven track record in corporate or brand communications, preferably with experience in product development
·Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism or related field
·Excellent written, verbal and advisory skills, including speech-writing experience
·Understanding of and experience using traditional and digital communications tools and a willingness to continue learning how to engage via new mediums
·Ability to navigate complex organizational relationships and influence senior leaders in order to create alignment and meet timelines
·Ability to work in a fast paced environment, prioritize, work under tight deadlines and pressure and deliver for multiple executives in various time zones
·Ability to manage confidential, sensitive information discreetly
·Ability to work globally, collaborate with others and work effectively across teams without direct reporting relationships
·Willingness to work nights/weekends as required.
